I thought this game was great. Which leaves me scratching my head, when I look at the voting scores, and try to understand why this game is not on course for 1st place?? So I put on my thinking cap and wondered.... {dizzy}
Is it the graphics? These are amongst the most stunning visuals Ive ever seen in a DizzyAge game. The detail and animations are brilliant and the day/night changes add another dimension to the game.
Or the sound? I loved the sound effects and music changes. Great idea to offer a folky theme in the the menu
Is it the technical wizardry? Well there's probably more technical wizardy in this game than in most others ive seen. Yet it doesnt scream - 'show off'. Instead each little extra just seems to add to the game. From the speccy loading screen to the time dependant day/night changes.
Too much walking and not enough action?? Not really. Unlike some of Jamies huger games. This game is just small enough to walk from one side of the game to the other without getting tedious. And the visuals make it a stunning stroll.
Plenty of humour? Yep, pretty much each secondary funny use you can think of for an item has been covered here. Some well thought through dialogue and I loved the Dizzy Idle animations for different items
How about the gameplay? For me this game is full of fun and wonder. Sometimes quests and characters seem a little bit random with a slightly coincidental theme running through puzzles at times. But on the whole its very rewarding when you find the solution which opens a new area or another hidden star.
Hmm... maybe its a personality thing? Impossible - few people have contributed more to this community and with every new release, it seems Jamies fanbase grows from strength to strength
Which leaves only one factor left:
Are we just too thick and lazy? :surprise:
I suppose if there was one constant factor, in not just this but most other Jamies games, is that he designs his games to be hard.
Although in this game, even the difficulty seemed to be toned down.
I was surprised how many puzzles I managed to crack first time, and if you get used to timing the jumps right, most nasties are easily avoidable.
The game does offer infinite saves - which require a little effort to earn. But on the whole arent really required to complete the game. And there are enough energy boosting stars to be able to complete this game on 1 life.
Ok, this still requires a bit of patience and effort on the players part. Maybe where this game falls over is that the majority of people dont want to think or play too hard?
Im still scratching my head.
This is a wonderful contribution to the comp - and in my opinion deserves to be challenging for top spot.
Very well done {yolkfolk} {yolkfolk}
