Dizzy Action Library readme

Thanks for downloading the Dizzy action library. This library is designed to help you make your own Dizzy fan-games with Game Maker. Unlike other Game Maker libraries, the Dizzy action library is designed less like a group of functions and more as a ready made game engine.

Installation

To install the dizzy action library all you have to do is move the file called "dizzy action library.lib" into the lib folder in your Game Maker directory. Once you start Game Maker, the library will appear in the list of actions in the edit object form.

Instructions for use

Before you start using the library you should make sure that your game contains the following resources;

  1. A sprite of Dizzy standing still
  2. A sprite of Dizzy walking left
  3. A sprite of Dizzy walking right
  4. A sprite of Dizzy jumping up
  5. A sprite of Dizzy jumping left
  6. A sprite of Dizzy jumping right
  7. A (non-animated) Dizzy mask sprite
  8. A block sprite
  9. A cloud sprite
  10. A Dizzy object (must have the Dizzy standing still sprite set and the Dizzy mask sprite as a mask)
  11. A Block object (must be solid and have the block sprite set)
  12. A Cloud object (must have the cloud sprite set)

If you have all these resources in your game then you can start adding the actions to your Dizzy object.

Make Dizzy Jump
Put this in the key that you want to make dizzy jump.
Makes Dizzy stop jumping
Put this in the alarm event that you specified in the "Make Dizzy Jump" action.
Make Dizzy walk
Put one of these in the keys that will make Dizzy walk left and right.
Misc. Dizzy actions
Put this in Dizzy's step event.
Makes Dizzy "feel" blocks
Put this in the collision event with your block object
Makes Dizzy "feel" clouds
Put this in the collision event with your cloud object

Included within the zip is an example for you to see how the Library works. You must install the library before opening the example.

Legal Stuff

This is not a standard Game Maker library and the creaters of Game Maker take no responsibility for it's use.

If you create a game which uses the actions in this library then you cannot distribute the editable version of that game unless the recipiant also has this library (you can distibute the executable versions as they already have the library imbedded into them).

I offer no official support for this library and you use it at your own risk. If you have queries about the library then you can e-mail me and I may try to help (but I make no guarantees).

This library is provided for free by me but there is no need to credit me for using it.
