Fan Games That Weren't - Part 2

Here at The Dizzy Fansite, we're absolutely delighted to house over 300 fan-made Dizzy games, a few of which were released as far back as 1992.

Unfortunately, there were some fan games that were either lost in time or never saw the light of day.
The second part looks at the more recent cancelled fan games, aswell as a few more early ones that weren't listed in Part 1.

Apologies if there's any I've missed out, there are loads out there and its difficult to keep track!

LOST LAND DIZZY
Andrew Ludford/AndyUK - c. 2004/2005

This was to be Andy's third fan game in his series.
He first announced Lost Land on one of our previous forums.

Some screenshots and the game's file have been found via the Internet Archive of the now defunct Ectoprods website.

In December 2024, Andy got in touch with us and has kindly shared the unfinished game's file which can be opened on the latest build of Clickteam Fusion 2.5.
Pressing Esc during gameplay also enables free movement mode.

On a side note, Andy announced another game in 2007 called 'New World Dizzy', using Multimedia Fusion 2.
This unfinished game also included a classic Dizzy inventory system made by Phizzy.

The game's file can also be accessed using the latest build of Clickteam Fusion 2.5.

DIZZY PHOENIX
Graham Houston - c. 2007

This was announced on the Community Forums with a link to his website.

Unfortunately, the website is long gone (not even viewable on the Internet Archive) and Graham never left any more details on the forums.

It's possible that this game could have been linked to his 'Fantastic Dizzy Engine', also unreleased.

DEEP SPACE DIZZY
Ian/Debug - c. 2008

This project was announced on the Community Forums back in 2008.
With thorough descriptions of the levels, the puzzles and the objective.

"One night whilst looking up at the stars a crack of lightning startles him.
When Dizzy goes to investigate the wind around him begins to churn and swirl, lightning starts to appear out of thin air, and a fantastic array of lights starts to spin, crack and gather.

In awe of the lights Dizzy moves closer as he sees an egg shaped ball begin to form in the dancing light.
A sudden ripping sound is followed by a huge flash of light and Dizzy is sucked into the vortex?

But at the same time, somewhere in the Forest, two new feet touch the ground, two feet that belong to no one in the village, or no one on that planet for that matter?"

Ian did share several screenshots, but are now lost.
It's not known what became of this game.

DIZZY AND THE CRABAPPLE
Nige Copeland/NigeC - c. 2008

This was to be Nige's first DizzyAGE adventure.

There were screenshots for this game, but are now lost.
It's likely that the game didn't get far in development.

SEYMOUR - A SUPERSTAR'S ADVENTURES
Blake - c. 2008

OK, technically nothing to do with Dizzy, but seeing a fan-made Seymour project was just as good.

This was once made available to download on its own website.
But the website has long since gone offline and a copy of the project was nowhere to be found online.

The only proof of its existence is through video footage on Blake's YouTube channel.

However, in July 2024, we recently had contact with Blake and has sent us a copy of the engine's sources and an unfinished demo of "Seymour - Take One".

DIZZYANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
DizzyPLEng - c. 2009

This was to be a fan game heavily based on 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', using Novashell Game Creation System.

Despite having difficulty looking for any graphics artists, a video on YouTube shows how much of the game was finished.

DIZZY AND THE HAUNTED ISLE
Rinpoche - c. 2010/2011

This was to be Rinpoche's first DizzyAGE game.

"Dizzy wakes up to find himself not in his bed but instead on a strange haunted isle.
Help Dizzy discover why he’s here and escape before its too late!"

Rinpoche had been making good progress on the game at the time.
Starting off with the default DizzyAGE graphics before moving onto Amiga graphics.

Sadly, Rinpoche was never heard from again since 2011 and the fate of his game remains up in the air.

CORAL CAVES DIZZY
Matt Huckvale/Huckleberry - c. 2010/2011

This was to be Matt's third DizzyAGE adventure, which was going to act as a direct follow up to 'Grogg Island Dizzy'.

But several months after Grogg Island's release, Huckleberry disappeared from the Community Forums, making the chances of ever seeing 'Coral Caves' become extremely unlikely.

DIZZY LEGENDS CH. 3 - SILENCE OF THE STORM
Jamie Douglas - c. 2011/2012

The 'Dizzy Legends' series was originally going to be a trilogy.
With the first chapter called 'The Lord of Darkness' and the second chapter called 'The Curse of the Mystics'.

The third chapter was going to be slightly different than the other two.
Instead of playing as Dexter from the previous games, you play as Didier, the grandson of King Demetrius.

"17 years have now passed since the great prophecy. The Lord of Darkness is now a complete recluse, having retreated deep into himself following the prophecy, succumbing to the depths of madness.

Although he is now never seen by his subjects, his remaining followers have carried on his reign of fear and terror, themselves fearful of the extreme madness of the Lord.

Didier, the grandson of the late King Demetrius, has learned of the prophecy, and has returned to the site of his grandfathers now legendary reign in an attempt to fulfil it.

Hopelessly inexperienced, he is immediately captured and held prisoner by followers of the Lord…"

Several years later in 2021, Jamie confirmed that 'Silence of the Storm' was never going to be finished due to a major change to his personal life.

With that said, this now leaves all of us guessing how the third chapter would've ended.

There is an unofficial conclusion to Dizzy Legends which is revealed in the 2019 fan game, 'Dizzy and Seymour - The Secret Family', where Didier was changed to Dizzy (Grand Dizzy's grandfather) and what became of Lord Dexter and Illumination Castle.

THE NECROMANCER DIZZY
Darkly - c. 2015

This was to be Darkly's first DizzyAGE game.

"Dizzy wants to learn where he and the rest of the Yolkfolk came from.

In order to do this, he decides to communicate with a ghost."

The game was going to use a mixed variety of 16-bit graphics.

Darkly didn't get very far with developing the game, but did manage to release it as a mini-demo with a few rooms.

MYSTIC KINGDOM DIZZY
Peter Teal - c. 2006/2007

Not to be confused with the early working title for Spellbound Dizzy.

This was one of many DizzyAGE projects that Peter had announced around 2007.

"The Kings daughter has been imprisoned by the evil wizard Zaks.
Dizzy, the Prince of the Yolkfolk is summoned before the king.

The King pleads for Dizzy to defeat Zaks and rescue the princess.
But he can only do it with the help from his friends."

Having seen a private early demo, Peter had made good progress.
But most of the game itself I can barely remember and the game file is believed to be lost.

FAST FOOD 2
Matt Stapleton - c. 2007

This was to be a 3D maze game that was given the working title 'Fast Food 2'.
A teaser was released on Matt's YouTube channel.

Sadly, this has become one of those interesting ideas that never saw completion.

TRANSYLVANIAN DIZZY
Joe - c. 2007

This was going to be a fan game made for the Commodore 64.

"The evil Count Zakula has lured the Yolkfolk to Transylvania by means of a ‘free holiday’ junk-mail scam.

All the Yolkfolk (except Dizzy, who forgot his passport and had to get a later flight) ended up trapped in some sticky situation or another, and as usual it was Dizzy’s job to come to their rescue."

Screenshots for the game (now lost) were released when Joe first announced this on the Community Forums, the screenshots themselves featured new designs for Dizzy and the Yolkfolk.

The game didn't get very far in development.
However, the Yolkfolk's redesigns were salvaged by Jamie Douglas for his own games, 'Mystic Forest Dizzy' and 'Log Cabin Dizzy'.

DIZZY'S MYSTIC ADVENTURE
Adam Markey - c. 2007/2008

I never announced this game when I was working on it.

I don't remember a great deal, other than it used Spectrum graphics, music from the MOD Archive and locations inspired by places I've walked through in South East Cornwall.

It had some similarities to the Magic Maniax games, but with the devil from Magicland being a reoccurring boss.

I recall making good progress on the game before the file was lost after yet another PC death.

Coincidentally, some of the music I picked for the game were used in Colin Page's fan game, 'A Pirate's Life Dizzy'.

DIZZY IN THE FORGOTTEN REALM
Apep - c. 2008

This was to be Apep's first DizzyAGE adventure.

"The Evil Wizard Zaks has been up to his old tricks again, for unknown reasons he has whisked Dizzy and several of his friends off to a land long forgotten by the civilised populace.

Our intrepid hero finds himself trapped inside a large grungy castle with no knowledge of where he is and no memory of how he got there.

If he and his friends are to return home he must escape his prison and find a way to reverse Zaks magic….but he will need some help from a very unlikely ally."

Unfortunately, Apep had to put the game on hold due to both time constraints and personal reasons.
We haven't heard from him since.

DAYNIGHT DIZZY
Constantinescu Silviu Alexandru/Inkyno - c. 2010

After the success of his first DizzyAGE game, 'Dizzy Oops!', Inkyno wanted to make another game titled 'DayNight Dizzy'.

The last time we had an update about this game was April 2010, saying that 25% of the map was completed with a beta loading screen.

Sadly, we haven't heard from Inkyno since then and is likely the game will never be finished.
This screenshot is all we have from the game.

DETECTIVE EYE DIZZY
Bazi - c. 2008/2010

This was to be Bazi's second DizzyAGE adventure.

It was going to include over 150 screens and a harder difficulty than his first game 'Dizzy And The Magic Wand'.

But due to so many events going on with his personal life, it had taken Bazi over 3 years to make major progress with the game.

Sadly, we haven't heard from Bazi since 2011 and the amount of progress made to 'Detective Eye' remains a mystery.

TIME TRAVEL DIZZY
Ronald Gerrard - c. 2011

This DizzyAGE demo was fairly similar to 'Dizzy Who', where the Tardis mysteriously appears in the Yolkfolk village.

Sadly for some unusual reason, the game went missing from Yolkfolk's server not long after its release.

Back in April 2023, I had managed to make contact with Ronald via his Artstation account.
He replied saying that he'll try and search for his game and would be delighted to have it back on the site.
Nothing else came of it after contact.

However in April 2025, the demo was found hidden away in an external hard drive and was shortly made available on download.

DIZZY MYSTERIES - THE CASE OF THE MISSING FLUFFLE
Jamie Douglas - c. 2011

This was one of the titles that Jamie listed on his 'forthcoming games' thread on the Community Forums.

While the title alone sounds interesting, its likely the game never reached the development stage.

FANTASTIC DIZZY SUPERIOR
Łukasz Kur - c. 2018

This was to be an impressive looking ROM hack of 'The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy' for the NES, which even came with a poster drawn by Pit.

Some of the content that was going to be included in the hack were the following:

-- 3 slot save system
-- Improved "Red" engine for all versions (fast walking, better inventory etc)
-- Customize Dizzy gloves
-- Over 20 new music tracks
-- Region support for NTSC, PAL as well as Pegasus (hybrid console)
-- Over 30 achievements to earn
-- Item inventory improvements
-- 4 difficulty settings to choose from
-- Unlockable cheats
-- Miscellaneous menu options
-- Several anti-piracy measures

And many more.

It is currently not known what became of this project.

That is most of the cancelled games recorded from the most recent years of the Dizzy Community.

Again, apologies if there's any more titles that have been missed from that era.
As said above this page, its hard to keep track of them all!
