Dizzy - Escape From Castle Zaks [PROGRESS THREAD]

Post by Arjak » Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:16 am

I've always wanted to make my own video game; it's been kind of a dream of mine.

I never expected that it would be Dizzy who would give me my start!

So, yes. I've begun work on my first DizzyAGE game, although, to be perfectly honest, it's my third attempt.

This is actually my first major attempt at programming, period! I must say that I'm pleased with how it is going. The first room has been completed, and I guess I must be feeling smug, because here it is for all of you to enjoy!

Please note that this is not a finished game in the least. It is a one-room demo of my progress so far. Call it a "Proof of Concept" demo, if you wish.

In this demo, your goal is to escape the prison cell. That is as far as I have gotten.

One thing I should tell (or perhaps warn) you all about is that the puzzles in this demo are perhaps unconventional for a Dizzy game. You might have to do some out-of-the-box thinking!

EDIT 09-01-2009: I have started my blog. In it, I will be discussing my progress creating this game.

EDIT 06-04-2010: Demo 2 has been released! Download it below!

EDIT 11-27-2015: Demo 3 released.

Enjoy!

very good! :v2_dizzy_clapping: although i found it relatively easy, it's well put together, with a few nice coding tricks.

well done! :v2_dizzy_clapping:

I agree with delta, I've escaped the cell too.

It's a good start :) I wish you good luck with the rest of the game, and feel free to ask for any help in the DizzyAGE Help section whenever you need it.

Good demo - I like it
Cant believe I actually died in a 1-room game - oh dear
took me a little while to figure out how to get the key too - but maybe thats old age creeping in for me.

Cant wait for more

You can die if you try poking the troll with the stick 3 times.

Looking good so far. I'm looking forward to the rest of it. :)

Nice one!
Indeed, it was easy, given there were only a few objects to try. The puzzles are logical. The dialog is good.
Keep the good work and let us know of your progress.
