Grandad, you will find that uploading is a lot slower than downloading, this is why broadband is called ADSL, the A stands for asynchronous, ie uploads and downloads are done at different speeds. You probably already notice when you try to send an email attachment how long it takes to send the mail as opposed to how quickly it would download.

Thanks for the info Dave. Luckily I'm not overly bothered with transfer speed as I can always go and make a cuppa (and reread a David Weber novel if it gets that slow). I just get fed up with AOL crashing so often when attaching files over 1 meg to e-mails.

Grandad, perhaps you should get yourself a different email account? hotmail or googlemail for instance? I've just sent "mystic forest dizzy" ( 9 meg ) to one of my accounts, took less than 2 mins with O2 strangled broadband. The upload took most of that time. Image
