Arrow Key Scan codes

Post by delta » Wed Oct 27, 2010 11:32 am

Alex, do you know what the scan codes for the Arrow keys are? I believe they are 48, 4B, 4D and 50, but if I try these they don't work. Also I believe I have to add E0 to the beginning of them, but using 0xE048 doesn't work, and just using E048 throws up an error.

yes, they are the key codes used by directx. I think I posted them before, somewhere around here or wrote about this somewhere.

My "job" to mention that using keyboard keys directly instead of the game's standard actions (left, right,up,down, action, menu - which are mapped to both keyboard and joystick) will limit your game to PC platforms with keyboard. An eventual portable console build may not support more than the standard actions.

don't worry, actually playing the game only requires the standard actions.
