Its always the cracked ones that let the light in
Okay, so after showing you the world in a previous update I have now integrated the map
finally into the game with the mode of transport that you will use. Not every place will be
available or shown on map when you get the option to use the airship, instead these will
have to be unlocked either by following the games story or in some cases by completing
certain mini-quests, monster hunts, or finding secret areas.
The markers glow on map and all mean a different thing,
yellow = An area unlocked but you are not able to land there as your ships a boat and
needs to land in water.
Blue = These markers represent dungeons found, again, you will not be able to land on
these either as usually these dungeons are underground.
Red = These are landable markers, usually found about the port areas of places/cities/towns.
Enjoy!
Okay, last update of the week as I work weekends.. a few more map pics for you
to take a look at.. starting with a small forest path area that leads into the farming
fields of "Farmer's Mantle".
One of the area's of "Farmer's Mantle"... (sry for the blue lines those are where i
copy and painted the pics together as its a pretty large map)... okay.. so the water
wheel and the windmill are actually animated, those turn, and the water twinkles in
the sunlight along with the smoke moving out of the chimney stack too.
Exit to the right of the above map and you come to the "Orchard".
Go north of the first picture and you come to another part of "Farmer's Mantle", Again..
the npc's are animated, so the farmer's do actually look like they are digging, and the
woman is actually sweeping dust from the floor.
Go north of the above pic and you end up climbing a small mountain full of windmills.
(sorry this pic aint that good.. its cos it was to much of a pain to use paint, so i just
took the pic from the rpg editor, so it won't show the windmills, npc's.. ect.. i'm sure
you can use your imagination tho).
So That's it for this weeks updates.. more will be coming next week.![]()

Okay so I had A little spare time today so I made these.. In the original C.K.D. it's split into four
parts, yolkfolk village, blackhearts pirate ship, the desert, and the ice palace.. so I made these
ready to put into my game.. though after I finished I realised that after a certain point in my game
the world becomes an open world so you can pretty much travel anywhere you like, so trying to
input these at certain points into the game mite be a tad tricky trying to find places to split the game
up into parts.. well.. I'll let you lot decide over the weekend wether I should put them in or not..
here they are.
They are VERY similar to the ones in C.K.D. .. I tried to keep them like that on purpose if your wondering.
Enjoy and have a good weekend..![]()
Ah, now that interests me. I know that many players considered it a weakness of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy that you couldn't go back to earlier levels to explore some more, but instead basically played four short games independent of one another, so it will be fun to see a version of the story where backtracking is possible.
Not will it be only possible to backtrack, it will be a MUST to backtrack at points in the game.. for example you have to fix a ship to make it sea worthy, so you have to get an "axe" frm a shop, then travel back to the 1st place you start in and there you can chop down trees for "tree logs". From the logs then you will have to get someone to make planks for you, once you have the planks, you can then head all the way back to the town and hand them in..well, not until you found a few other items, like a hammer and a load of nails.
The axe is a tradeshop item, the trader wants "slime cores", to get them u ave to kill slimes, they drop them randomly... only then can you get an "axe" to be able to get "logs".
There's a LOT of thought going into quests for items and so forth that will make the game challenging. What I have also done is a shop that sells speed boots, these make you move faster when equipped so you will be able to backtrack to areas quicker, though these boots are expensive to buy .. lol
Okay, been just over a month since my last update, missed two weeks as I was ill
and not too happy about losing that time, unfortunatly it could'nt be helped. So..
here is an update on what I have done since my last update.
Finally got my rain effects up and running as you will see in the pictures below.
Got a few new maps done.
Most of the time was scripting in the story though, making sure it all ties together
and making sure there's no crashes whilst playing.
Got "Wychhaven's" gained reputation points up from 10% to now 50% in side-quest
rewards, storyline rewards, another 10 side-quests put into that area and then it will
be 100% complete for that area.. ^^
Completed scripting the story in "Farmers Landing" that introduces you to the main bad
guys of the game, kinda like a small cinematic interval, which you also can see in the
pictures below.
Came up with a really sneaky way of opening that door in the "Old Temple" photo, the girl gives
you a clue on how to open it, but it won't be that easy.. that took me 3 days to get working right...
>.< ..... much longer than I had hoped it would have taken, oh well, it's done now.
Sorted out a script problem that was causing the logo screen of the game to stop the title screen
music from playing straight away when it swapped from logo screen to title screen, (that was driving
me INSANE!... I was punching my wall at one point.. lol).
Added a few more side-quests.
At one point I was using a particles effect script to make the game look more flashy with spells, lighting,
ect... but it was causing other scripts to malfunction, nothing I could do with that, so I had to remove the
particle script for good then go right through the game and remove ANY coding that used the particle effect
engine.. which I was not very happy about.. but managed to sort out ANOTHER way to have dynamic lighting,
so street lamps ect.. light up in the night and switches off at day-light.
Errrr... I think that's about it... don't seem quite alot but trust me it's alot when using the game maker im using,
so i'll just post 4 pictures also for you with a few notes below them so you can see rain effects, and few new maps.
[IMG][/IMG]
Okay, above you can see the rain effect falling, that's set at pretty heavy falling, as rain hits the floor it
makes like a circular splash effect too.
[IMG][/IMG]
Here it's raining at a much lighter rate, but still the same effect as it hits the floor, with rain effects also in the
background playing over the area music.
[IMG][/IMG]
Picture of "The Old Temple" with even more lighter rain effect, your able to walk behind the waterfalls in this
section, ah just thought, I also edited the waterfall tiles so you could see through them and walk behind them,
that only took me bout an hour to sort out though, Last picture.....
[IMG][/IMG]
This is a picture of part of the cinematic clip that introduces the 5 main badguys of the game, the guy in the
picture is "SHAYDE", demi-god of Darkness, this clip happens just as you enter "Farmer's Landing". The plan
with these guys for the moment is they will be trying to stop you from releasing the elementals from their
captors, at this point of the game you've saved one elemental and nearing your second... so, wether or not
you'll get to battle one of them at the ssecond elemental is undecided for now.
Remember though.. the elemental story.. is a side story that you don't HAVE to follow if you don't want to
as this story's totally off from the main storyline quest to fnd the 3 crystal kingdom items, but doing it will
help you greatly in the ways of battles, and getting EVERYTHING in the game.
OMG!!! This is epic.
You've merged so many different styles from all your favourite games into one - with Dizzy as the hero!
I've never seen a Dizzy game like this before - it's truly an inspiration.
For this genre, this is the first time a Dizzy game on this scale has ever been attempted
Good luck with the rest of your build - I'm very much looking forward to this
![]()
Long Live Dizzy - May his boxing gloves never shrink in the wash
Thanks DizzyFanUk... unfortunatly though as I'm the only person working on this game it's going to be a while before it get's released.
If anyone is interested in using the 4 parts pictures I made if they are also making a crystal
kingdom dizzy game/remake using any programme and can import them into their game,
your more than welcome to use my ones i've made above.. I've decided i'm NOT going to
split the game up into parts like the original, I'm going to keep it as a full world version.
Just let me know tho, and maybe credit me ^^ lol
