    which game? and can you look in the readme file to find out what version of that game?

    also could you let us know what windows version you're using? (e.g. XP, vista etc)

    some older games still use the old version of dizzyage, and i think that's probably your problem, but without knowing a bit more detail, i can't be sure.

    To be honest it seems to be all of the games. The example is Dizzy and the harp of life. The version is 1.0, and i have Windows XP.I think its XP professional not too sure. Thanks for any help you can give, i am useless with technology lol

    hmm that's odd. i have XP too and they all work fine for me.

    it could be the graphics card you have, but i don't know tbh. Alex will probably know more about it.

    You could maybe try one of the older games, such as Dizzy and the Emerald Eye, to see if an older version of DizzyAGE works for you. That would help Alex, to know if it does or not.

    I had the same problem when i tried running the games in virtual pc on an xp virtual drive.
    if you open the dizzy.ini in an editor, at the top should be

    api = 0

    alter the 0 to 1 in every game you try and they should then play

    if it's missing then just add the line into the [VIDEO] section

    OK!

    open a text editor like wordpad or notepad
    select open from the menu bar at the top and find the game folder
    choose the dizzy.ini file

    you should now have a list of settings for the game

    look down the list and change

    api = 0
    to
    api = 1

    if you can't find it
    add the line into the [VIDEO] section

    go back to the menu bar and choose save

    Do you have DirectX 9 installed?

    Anyway, open the setup.exe and go to config, advance and enable log message
    Start the game and after the video error, send me the dizzy.log file (my email is on the DizzyAGE website, or post it here).

    It is most probably an issue with your video drivers (or lack of Direct - the dizzy.log file should say it.

    The alternative Colin mentioned is to use OpenGL instead of DirectX (that is what api=1 means). Open setup.exe and go to config video and choose opengl. It will change the dizzy.ini for you.

    I think the log you posted was made with OpenGL as default video api.
    And from what it listed the game should run with:

    OpenGL,
    full screen!!!
    scale 2
    640x480 (or 800x600 for example)
    quality low (16 bits) - at video advanced
    and refresh 60Hz or 75Hz - at video advanced
    Try it exactly like that.

    If it doesn't work, switch to DirectX as default api, keeping the rest of the above settings and run again. Have the log messages on and send me the log again to see what DirectX detects.

    Do you use the latest drivers for your video card? This may be essential.

    Also make sure you run a game made with DizzyAGE v2.3[EDIT], like the latest version of "Dizzy and the Mushroom Pie".

    If you prefer to use my email, my yahoo address is listed on the DizzyAGE website.
