I've just done this in Photoshop as a rough idea of how I could implement the style of art in a dizzy game. I quite like the idea, perhaps similar to what Yoshi's Island was going for. I'm not making a game, I haven't planned a game, I just ended up making this and liked it. Anyone else have any opinions?

Hello all my name is Richard and I've been a Dizzy fan since as long as I remember. I was raised in the early 80s which was an amazing time to be a kid and a gamer/computer fan. My first Console was an Intellivision from MAttell and spent many days playing Dungeons and dragons. The days I wasn't playing was taping up the cables or learning to solder.

When the console died for good my dad bought an Amstrad CPC 464 with the Amsoft pack. It didn't take long to build up boxes of cassettes and among them , usually at the top of the pile was Dizzy.

Between that and Jet set Willy I haven't played a platformer with that kind of insane difficulty. The precision required was pin point.

I have a lot of my old tapes in the attic but the only in my room right now is Dizzy. Oddly enough this is a Spectrum tape as I picked it up by accident. Yeah I missed the great big yellow corner :S.

I was sad to see the Oliver twins fail in their kickstarter but am hopeful it isn't the last we hear of them. Also I have just seen the Android game so have picked that up. Was nice to see it still under Codemasters wing also. I wonder why Dizzy Returns was'nt supported by them also? Probably a risky move.

Anyway thanks for having me , Im thrilled to be here.

Thanks for that Grandad but it doesn't help at the moment. Think i need to get the green triangle before progressing any further, tried everything around that spot with no joy, and none of the items i have work anywhere else at the moment. I have:
lead lined casket, unlock chest spell, sleep spell power 8, 4 wine, rum & cooked chicken
so a clue for any of these would be much appreciated. And god help me in further levels if i'm stuck here in 2! :v2_dizzy_blush:

I've just uploaded my latest game to AdzM and Alex and is guaranteed to get me my cherished bottom place in this year's competition.

This game is very different to my usual style in that it's suitable for all ages and contains no smut whatsoever and as said in another thread is going to frustrate everyone who plays it and many players will question my parentage.

You'll have to pay attention at all times as it is easy to lose items for progress by doing actions incorrectly or doing them in the wrong order and getting totally stuck. For example in one instance you have two spells that can be used in the same place. Use the wrong spell and you're up the swannee without a paddle! Use the save game often and I'd recommend that you make use of all three save slots.

You get 'loot' points for treasure found and 'experience' points for monsters killed and good gameplay, plus bonuses at the end of each level for killing all the monsters, finding all the treasure and ending the level with maximum health. You can go back to the previous level to find something you've missed, but you only get one shot at getting bonuses for each level.

The maximum score for 'loot' and 'experience' is 900 points each, but that is sooooooo difficult to achieve.

Hi, I wanted to share with you all a little thing I've been working on. This is a bit of AI for moving an object in a circle.

It works much like AIUpdateTrain. You use one waypoint, which goes at the centre of the circle. O_WAYPOINTSPEED is the same as usual, but I've used O_WAYPOINTFLIP to set the direction of motion (0 = clockwise, 1 = anti) - try setting an Action Object to switch it!

I've also added another variable O_WAYPOINTRADIUS, which you'll have to add a #def for. It does what it says on the tin. You'll probably want to set it to the same as the seperation between the starting positions on the map, but the AI will correct it anyway. Again, try changing it with an Action object.

Code:

func AIUpdateCircle( idx )
{
        if(idx==-1) return;
        idx2 = ObjFind(id2);
        if(idx2==-1) return;
