I have released my new game, entered into this years 2009 Dizzyage easter competition. I hope you all enjoy it!

Story:

Zaks is about to go on his summer holiday, but in his own special way, he doesn't want the yolkfolk to miss out on some fun. He has hidden 5 explosive devices throughout the village (isn't that sweet!). The only way to de-fuse each of them, requires a it's own unique code key (which too are hidden).
As a treat you get to control, not only Dizzy, but the rest of the Yolkfolk as well. This will help as some locations and items are only accessible by that character.

sorry about that! LOL!!

i've put up an update v1.01. it fixes 2 small bugs. your save games will still work fine on this version!

Good luck with this Colin - It deserves to be up there with the best of em.

This games a real treat to play - for those that give it a play:
- suggest you have the SFX turned up full - the attention to detail of the graphics & sound is really special:)

My favourite part was the museum
- If you've just picked this up - make sure you explore this area thoroughly - & watch out for a real gem of a tribute to one of our long-serving yolkfolk community developers :v2_dizzy_clapping:

Found green/blue key and gotten blown up a few times..lol

Theres a Box in Denzils place which he says something about ivy and able to climb it.. ??? is that right?

no it's a bug.

i've now got blue key card, green key card, cotton but, bee smoker (used twice), ladders, wire cutters (used once), empty spray bottle (used once), dirty rag (used once) and Dizzys scuba gear

aaaand i'm stuck again!

EDIT:: just got going again! :)

Im playing that version, but didn't start from scratch so i didn't know.

Dizzy gets stuck.
Also if Dylan is standing in front of the garden gates you can not select him.
Not sure if this happens to the others and the door ways.

Hopefully i don't need to go there anymore or I'll have to start again.



Got 43 coins, one card/bomb, the shopkeeper left.
and i have one item unused.

Wow !! Just started playing today & must be the most cutest & visually beautiful dizzy game ever Colin....that Museum is so creative :v2_dizzy_clapping:

And a first for being able to play as all the other other Dizzy characters as well.

38 Coins, defused 2 bombs, 1 card at mo. Not used Golden Egg or Ladders yet...
(EDITS:- have now for the egg)

P.S. I noted it as v1.03, like onYolkfolk, but in the readme file, the latest is 1.02. Maybe you can clear it up.

the game is v1.03 and the readme was updated, but i think the readme didn't update to the zip properly. i'll email you the zip with the correct one!

Just had a look through the bug list Alex. pretty sure those are all covered now in the latest release! :)
with the suggestions, I will definately look into them. unfortunately i was running out of time on releasing the game before the deadline and i'm not going to have a lot of PC time over the next few weeks to add stuff to the game!

Just wanted to say I've really been enjoying all the Easter competition entries this year, and particularly this one- the attention to detail in the graphics, sound and design is fantastic. I'm almost embarrassed at how excited I was to be able to play as all the different Yolkfolk! :)

I haven't finished it yet- I've just made a hole in the water pipe (I was worried at first it was a gas main, and Dizzy would be blown up!) Great game Colin! :v2_dizzy_clapping:

wierd!?! :v2_dizzy_confused2: one of the strange gremlim bugs this game seems to develop, all on it's own. I'm already in the middle of fixing some other bugs, so i've quickly altered it so it can't do that again!
hopefully i'll have it ready later this evening or tomorrow!

As i say - i can`t leave the room. Jumping on the telescopes also not help... Dizzy can`t jump on the top of them.

i think i know what the problem is.

Colin, in the next release, you need to check the positioning of the character every time you reposition him after entering a doorway, or any time where you use code to set his position in the map.

you MUST set the player x position as a multiple of 4. This is VERY IMPORTANT, as if you don't, it messes with the player boundary box, meaning that the player position can be different to the 'box' that determines his collide position.

This has significance when trying to get down small gaps like the stairs in the tower, and means that gaps that he could previously get through aren't accessable anymore.

I'm also guessing that you changed the 'top of the tower' room after v1.0 so that you can't jump over the telescopes?

I found a few that were out by 2 pixels

Hi.

I like this Dizzy game alot and enjoy playing it, I have always being a Dizzy fan since I was a child and had a spectrum. I still have all the original software and also enjoy playing them on the pc using my spectaculator emulator which I registered. I like Treasure Island Dizzy and Spellbound Dizzy are my favorites.

Just finished the game, and LOVED it, but have a couple of questions:

1. Isn't it possible to not be able to finish if you never cut the wire fence around the top of the lift mechanism? If you'd left the bee smoker in the gardens, you wouldn't be able to get it without Dylan, so you couldn't do the cloud bit?

2. Likewise, at the very end, Daisy takes off her scuba gear. If you didn't have all the bits you needed, you'd not be able to get back to get them.

So if you hadn't saved the game, you'd get stuck at these 2 places?

Anyway, brilliant game, absolutely loved it!

I coded it so that you can still pick it up!

with #2 i'm sure I coded it so it doesn't disappear if you missed an item! (I hope!)

Hi Colin, Re "2" had a save just before daisy sets of to rescue dizzy and found that if daisy goes off without the correct items she can't get back 'cos the scuba gear disappears and she's blocked from going anywhere to the right. Never had a problem with it, force of habit, always save if you're not sure what happens next. lol
really is a great game and the first comp game I finished this year 'cos I enjoyed it so much.

Ah, re: no. 1 - excellent!

No. 2, I think it disappeared on me the first time, and I was missing an item... can't be sure though. Also not sure which version I have, maybe I have an earlier one?

I obviously didn't finish that bit then! I was really short on time at the end of doing this game. I had to have it released 2 weeks before the deadline, as I wasn't free to touch it after!

NOTE TO PLAYER'S when you finish the last bomb, take all the items - including the item you will have just used!
