I've managed to get to the Snorkle but can't seem to get back to the top any advice would be great.

i don't need help yet (i'm taking a break, 28 coins and i've just unlocked a large area - the shopkeeper), i just wanted to congratulate you for an awesome game :v2_dizzy_clapping: i love all the details, from the arcade games to the cavern of choice song :D (i have a save slot alotted just for that so i can go back and listen to it whenever i want. come to think of it, i could probably unpack it... but it's nicer to listen to it in context)

Yes looks like another great game in the offering from Jamie, im really enjoying this one so far, up to 23 coins and got through the church back door.

Interesting so far.. current main tasks is the witch and glue the mine cart together. think i got 31 coins in total, i did buy an item.
Not sure what I'm doing now so i'm having a break and to refresh my head.

i might need some help: is it possible to become stuck? i mean, i suppose it is if you sell an object before using it, but what if you're supposed to use it twice (like the pickaxe)? so here's me checking if i screwed up: i've sold the metal cutters after entering the illusion island castle; i've sold the original, broken organ pipes (haven't used them); i've bought, used, then sold the welding kit, and i am now holding 12 coins and a bunch of items i haven't used yet. i'm thinking about selling the spanner as well after having used it once with the first switch; oh, and the pickaxe as well, after chopping up wood.

I found a bug.
Theres a room name missing next to the 'up and out' room in the cave.
Also the bird next to the church almost kills you off if you get stunned under it.. something that keep happening.
Anyway i just picked up the goggles, causing a few interesting things. Not getting any further at the moment, got into the castle but can't pass the exit, can't open the gate the same way i opened the first.
so i can;t open any more 'zones' just yet. Im looking forward to rideing that mine!
Didn't pogie keep ruining away on the other game? His so dam annoying! lol

oo yes so there is a room name missing! i'll leave it until i need to release another version before i correct that, as i think it may interfere with the save games.

Yes Pogie did wander around a bit in RRD. i liked the concept so much i used it again here! :)
I couldn't remember if it was rail road or dreamworld.. i knew it was one of them.

Yes is that, well im rather bamboozled or bamdizzled now.
Am now at a loss as to what to do, I've been walking around in circles all morning :cry:
At the mo I have: Banana, Stone Block, Heavy Lid, A Juicey Apple, Soggy Ice Cream Cone and A Cane most of them I know what to do with.
I have put the Mine Cart together but it now won't move!!! :dizzy_confused: Can you exit the Illusion Castle??? and can you get past the Dragon???
Any help would be greatfull :v2_dizzy_happy:

Its really easy to miss, theres a sneekily hidden coin down there as well.

That item you get once past the dragon can be used twice.
No idea how to pass the other dragon at this time.
I've just gotten to the next level in the castle, so many boulders i can't pass yet, and other bits and bobs.
Not sure what to do now, found a total of 47 coins think.

Well your somewhat ahead, 37 coins collected I think now, got the skull of Yorick and although I know where to use it cant get there without dying.

The Perfume maker says he can apparently make perfume from just about anything

That shopkeeper is a bit of a con.. i sold him a railing for about 2 coins i think... but he wouldn't pay for any others.

Yeah but I keep thinking I could screw the game if I sell an item ive used & thinking wont be needed again but you cant know that far ahead in the game where youve not been so your guessing. Keep thinking could run out of coins.
Guessing is ok to solve puzzles with items.
i know, i sold the smoke spray after using it once but I'm starting to wonder of spray/perfume man might be something.. lol :O

I sold a window frame early on lol, ive been thinking too of selling the spray now as once youve bought an item you need to progress you not got many coins left

Edging on whilst resisting the temptation to read through the help thread... have managed to pass the dragon (that was a bit of a gamble!) and go deeper into the crypt, although this has presented me with a quandry as I have now discovered there are more than two passage-blocking boulders... so, is it possible to 'foul-up' via the pickaxe, by virtue of what happens to this bit of "cheap rubbish" after its second use? :O
Ok I need help, I've got: Some Twigs, Skull, Heavy Lid, Heavy Weight and some other things I can't remember.
I've used the bucket and sold it, how do you get to the next level of the Castle with the Witch and are you surposed to be able to reach the Crow???

Think I know what items the witch needs but how the hell you get enough coins to beable to do it, ive run out now, im not liking this buying and selling lark :v2_dizzy_frown:

Sorry meant plant killer (same item icon as used as bird seed in previous games)...yes ive sold some items....but still cant get enough coins for that item as those for the witch as well...may have to do as you have...I dunno how to get the final item though....the plant ??

You'll be able to find the plant as soon as you have the correct item.
you should be able to get it, start in the beer celler
@ clientfan: no it doesn't leave you with a problem.
@ LDoY: you should be able to get rather far in the game before you absolutely NEED to buy stuff to progress.
@ Meph: selling that item shouldn't make too much difference. there's not an *exact* amount of coins required to complete the game. I've been rather generous in how many you can get.

My advice is the sticks may still be needed, but not till much later...

The cheap pickaxe will break after being used on the last thing it is needed for - this is OK
- if there are more boulders blocking other paths - you may find something later in the game to help

At last ive solved another puzzle, I know what the heavy lid is used for.
Met the 2nd dragon !! More screens to explore now and some more coins.

That well-stocked cellar isn't half a tempting prospect, especially given my current frustrations! :hitwall:
I'm assuming it's got a bigger part to play - I notice that unlike all the other barrels, the lone one containing "Irish Beer" in the room on the right only displays its narrative the first time you 'action' it. Am I meant to somehow siphon some grog? Unused I'm stuck with a stone block, heavy lid, weight, twigs, soggy cone and skull, and I've tried 'actioning' them all on the barrels and on the rope in the room underneath which is too heavy to pull up. I've though about buying the shopkeepers matches to try but then wouldn't alcohol + spark = BOOM?
I've got the bucket (used once) and some bricks, which I want to sell to the shopkeeper but am worried I might still need them. I've got 63 coins so can buy the two items for the witch but have no idea how to get her 'intensely liked plant' with my current items. I'm assuming I need to somehow deracinate one of those tough pink mushroomy-type things that are scattered about? :v2_dizzy_confused2: I know what the umbrella does from earlier attempts, but no idea how it could come in use at this stage.

Well just as I was about to throw in the towel, my literally 'last resort' effort of trying out one of the following three items, picked up from earlier hints - stone block, heavy lid, skull - worked. And in a very sheepishly silly place to boot! Now to see what lies beyond...

can't really help you there dude. the game is so non-linear in layout that i realy can't tell with any certainty where any of you are! :p

I found where the skull went some time ago but you must need another item first so ive not used it yet so you can get there safely.
As now though im back to being bamdizzled again, my new dizzy euphemism
to say im baffled/stuck/at a loss, which ever you choose lol

I guessing the perfume maker is used to red rid of that smell, but he wont respond any anything other than the two things.
Mr Kite said he would screw around with animals but wont respond to the cat.
And the strength potion for some reason wasn't strong enough to pull that heavy switch or boulders.. lol
Argh, theses so much to do and nothing that will do it. I'm now official frustrated.. i was alright up till this point!
Must think, problem is i've run out of ideas to try, have to try them all aging in case i wasn't standing in the correct spot.

hmmm meph, you have the scull, so you must have been down in the cellar...
therefore you must also have the lid too. i think the lid and the cellar are what you need to concentrate on, however not necessarily for each other!

Been following this thread - and theres a couple of frustrations out there
which I shared also - but most of these puzzles are so obvious (only when you know the answer, of course).
Heres a couple of hints:
Shop
I think only sell here if youve used the item or are sure its a red herring - but there are only a couple of things that are used more than once (but these tend to have obvious double uses)
- If you really think youve finished with the bucket and are really in need of the extra bob or 2, it might be worth haggling for more depending on whats in it???
- dont worry about money - I think theres loads of coins in this game and theres the opportuniy to earn more at some point later on - (if youve got good reflexes & are shrewd with the save game feature - you'll be quids in)
Red Herrings - hmm theres loads of these - some are actually worth money - if youre not sure its a red herring try to sell it - & take his advice
Cellar - make sure you explore every inch of this place for any item that could be useful - I didnt first time round and I sure as hell wish I had
Skull
- if you've not used this yet - theres only one place it could possible be used - a place where you'd expect to find a skull.....
Cat
My advice is think what is it cats are famous for doing? eh Jerry?
Lid
- Only obvious when you've done this one
- I think the most rewarding thing is just trial and error - on something that could be contained by putting a lid on it?
Ladder
- Obvious, really - somewhere you need to get past by going over - again its more fun by trial and error

- c'mon, I cant believe this has stumped so many people
- Just think, what use in real life would an object like this be?
- on second thoughts, no - dont even answer that one....

Its White Dylan that helps you to get Pogie - and something else....
But how to solve White Dylan?
Theres a few things you need to do first - but start by using your strength potion....

Well they my be odiously but are they logical.. lol and we probably haven't found were its use yet.
Been trying the cat on mice, and fish with no luck.
And if the ice cream cone is soggy wouldn't it just fall apart.
I did find another hidden coin i had missed!
Edit, thats not how you get pogie... you need to real Dylans.

nahh there's not. there's loads of items hiding coins, but these aren't generally used for anything else. some of them do have a small value however.
i think the real problem here is that no-one is past the pirate guard or the second dragon.

yep! the other thing is, as i've mentioned before, that once you get past the first dozen puzzles or so, it's possible to take any number of different routes through the game. there isn't any one 'set' route through the puzzles.

Delta's right about the different routes - this game is so huge - that there must be umpteen combinations of which puzzles to do in which order.
The hardest bit about the pirate for me, was not the logic of the puzzle, but that I didnt look for the solution hard enough - it's just making sure you explore the place carefully
On a not totally unrelated note, It's made me realise how central to this game the Cellar is. Or was that the subconcious mind trying to find another route back to the bevvies? :drool:

i think it is the latter... :p
almost every part of the game is 'central' to it, but i will concede that the cellar does hold more than it's fair share of things to do/take/use

I think i;ve clicked on everything in the celler and tried evey item i have in evey inch of the palce.. Which means i proboly don't have the correct items.
i think everyone is stuck at the same flamin' puzzle. Which is surprising because i didn't have it down as being particularly hard.
in fact *checks* i have it noted down as one of the easiest puzzles in the entire game! :)

Maybe this was even more obvious to me, having spent my Bank 'oliday monday walking around the beautiful Beth Chatto gardens near Colchester.
Visualise:
Its Spring, you're walking around a woodland, plants are everywhere...
You have a shiny, sharp pair of secateurs in your hands, and youre feeling a feeling a bit miffed....
Theres no-one to tell you not to (after all how are we supposed to tell a rare species from a common weed?)...
So do what comes natural and snip, snip, snip away....

i'd advise you to go exploring with the goggles. :)

what do you use the weight on? tried it on denzils fishing line to no avail, dont know how to help the mighty crow tried giving it the twigs as well.

Im going to forget about the great graphics, huge numbers of rooms to explore, moving bridges, shops , dragons and loads loads more.....
For me, a cellar packed full of booze, accessible whenever I want will be the deciding factor when it comes to voting time ;)

as far as i can tell, no one has yet got past the pirate or the second dragon.
you can't do anything with the beer as it just brings up a name with the exception of two, and no item seems to do anything.. i mean you can't climb in with a ladder, or drown the cat, the ice cream cone can't hold anything, how u get the lids off in the first place or poke a whole in the barren.. soak the Apple in it? lol Pogie doesn't want to know, :hitwall:
i found the hidden room but its blocked by a rock.
Im guessing none of us are standing in the exact spot or we haven't found the correct item.

I'm 25hrs 1min & 11sec.
I haven't found the thing that looks like a water gun or moved the railway truck.
I have: The Help Note, The Skull, The Stone Block, The Heavy Weight, Some Twigs, The Goggles and some other stuff I can't remember.
Need to solve the second Dragon, Pogie, how to get to the next level of the church and the next level of the castle.

purple pogie wanders around a bit. you may find him sooner or later than someone else, but it doesn't really make any difference to the gameplay.
incidently, nowhere does it state that the blue fluffe is called pogie...

Ive opened the exit to the castle, been to the beach.
Ive given the right item to perfume man (be aware for a little shock all on that).
Sorted the smuggler & got the key for daisy but dunno where she is yet.
Unused items now off ice cream cone (completely stumped on that), twigs, hand grip, heavy weight, power pill, rope, magnet, bottle of oil, bones, bird whistle.
Keep trying to find a way to get the snorkle but dunno how, dunno if I should beable to yet or not ??

Granted, a 'soggy ice cream cone' may not have any use at all in the real world, but people are trying to figure out puzzles for themselves, and you need to remember that what to use items for is not as obvious as it may seem to me (the games creator) or you (one of the beta testers).

firstly, what - fundamentally - is the problem? you should be fine with that once you get down to what the probem actually fundamentally is.
secondly, you should realise what the plant is once you've got it. :)

EDIT:: yup, fixed that bug too.
basically what happens is that obviously the game uses three types of message borders (set in dialog.gs). There is a Game Variable that i use to 'set' which border is used for each menu. Now, as the default template doesn't use more than one border, it doesn't need any of this coding for switching border styles, so i have to add in a bit of coding before every 'standard' game menu or dialogue (e.g. 'your hands are full', 'you found a coin', or even just the pause menu). this bit of coding switches the border style back to the default one, so that if, for example, you've just looked at a grave, the next menu you open won't show a 'grave' border style.
What's happened here is simply that i've forgot to add that bit of coding before the 'your hands are full' dialogue, so it's still using the border from the grave, which will be the last dialogue you had open :)

wooohooo i just got that elusive snorkel.
But didn't get far.. think i need the flippers to swim over that bank.
in that case i now need to somehow stop dizzy from falling off the mine tracks and access the exit from the castle.. which doesn't leave me with many items to try and use so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem.. .... :dizzy_cool:

Sorted the crow, sorted Denzil out with his bait (and wasnt the soggy ice cream cone lol), the witch
& the Irish fella, as some one whos been to Ireland many a time I liked that addition to the game.
Got the Petrification Cream & inflatable dinghy. No idea how to get up the bell tower which im sure
some of the other items ive got must lead to beable to get up there seeing as Meph has solved that.
Scored 50000 points now.

I think with the game being so open if you like with so many different puzzles which can be solved in a number of different orders its made the game rather challenging & people have been solving like that as you say....& it really forces you to remember everything as the puzzles dont follow on progressively necessarily.

Sea bank which i can not climb.
Castle exit which i can not open.
And two 'death'' ends when riding the cart.

only one of those items is no good to you meph - the one that keeps the doctor away - forget the sea bank - speak to denzil to get out of the castle and you'll know what you need for the end of the cart ride when you come across it :v2_dizzy_confused2:
i guess that , shoppee said it was worthless or useless.
Denzil wont speak gotta sort his music out and the only music cd i found is stuck in a machine. I think, been a while since i read those messages.. lol

yes i knew i needed that item but only got 22 coins,, i was a at a cross road between that and something/someone else (the devil) and took the other option instead assuming id be able to do both eventually.. looks like I've screwed my game up unless i sell all my items. :cry:

it's pretty hard to screw it up, there are plenty of coins to be had lying around but you should be able to use the crate if you've done one of the spells the others you'll need later on :v2_dizzy_confused2:
Im stuck!!!
Ive got a stone block, an empty bucket, gallows, an angle grinder, soggy ice scream cone, a heavy lid, and some small twigs.
I cant open the castle back door, get up into the upper level in the church, get the intensly liked plant for the witch, help dozy, help dory, help denzil, cant pull the rope up in the the castle cellar, cant get past the smell in the crypt, cant get the snorkel although i know where it is, cant get the item for the jester, cant get past the rocks after the pickaxe breaks, and cant get the peice of track for the mine cart.
Ive tried, but cant seem to find a solution. Please help!!!
you should be able to give something to the jester. you should also be able to get past the genie.
there is also an item you should have access to, that you haven't listed, although you can't have used it yet.

Think I recall the lion was hungry. Also dunno how to sort the devil yet either.
I have earlier unused items which I havent found a use for yet of Twigs, Bones & Magnet, I assuming it these I need to focus on, also the weight.
Later unused items of bottle of oil, Petrification cream, dinghy, Cell key and I expect I cant do owt with them until ive been up that bell tower so stuck now again.

Thanks for the hint, now got past the croc, got clock of which I found who to give to & bag of coins...nothing which seemed to help me further.
I cant get further down that Chasm to the lower level.

if you can get down to the first one, then you will get the tools necessary to get stuff to get down to the second one, if that makes sense!

The lowest level, well its getting across to the other side of the lowest level, the draft blows you up, I have the 2 items to weigh me down.

'tis merely a way of gaining extra coins and points.
Personally i find Ghost Bash to be easily the hardest of them.

i bugged up my game and had to sell both the weight and ladder to get the cash to buy the game to progress.. i gave my money to the perfume man first instead of buying the game. i think i did that wrong.

no, you get one 'main game' coin for every 5 'mini game' coins collected.

Yes I got it activated....great little mini game 'coin drop', been a saviour that, I even managed to get my total along with selling a few items up so much I could buy the gold key.
Does that have any other use than opening the item under the sea (where you get a rebate of coins back)....cos if I sell back to shopkeeper I gain 1 coin.

Me too, that why I concentrated on that one, was wise choice I feel.i generally find Dizzy Bros. to be fairly easy too, however there's a knack to that one ;) i just got up to 60 mini game coins (12 main game coins) and over 1200 points on that one, before giving up, bored!
That was a lot of work then to get 1 coin :oooo:

just as a point of interest, i wonder if the game developers have figured out how i managed to code them...? Ghost Bash with it's three rooms provides a clue. :) (albeit not a very helpful one!)

The 'big hole' I was meaning as the chasm, the other side I referred to earlier (obviously not seen what I need to)
I should of said Daisys cell key (got from smuggler), does that mean is another one as ive not used the magnet, dunno where to use that.

Just a little note to everyone playing v1.01 (or even v1.0!), before you rescue Daisy (the white one), <b>MAKE SURE</b> that you've solved the puzzles for all the other Yolkfolk apart from Dozy, otherwise you won't be able to complete the game!
v1.10 fixes this by swapping two items around in the map.
Unfortunately save games from v1.01 don't work in v1.10, however the Highscores file willll stilll work.

I had a little doosie like that in an early beta. That is why you now collect 4 coins from the bombs, so you can't complete the last bomb earlier.

hmmm interesting. i found the problem. if you'd tried to action the castle back door before talking to denzil, he won't say anything. that problem was also in previous versions.
fixed in v1.11, which i'll send you in a moment. Saved games from v1.10 will still work.

I have come to a complete stop....Puzzles I'm stuck on are: the crow, dozy (both I think), the devil, the lion, the church tower, the third floor in the castle, how to stop the shark killing me when I attempt to get the boots, the door near where the pirate was, how to move the stuck boulder, how to not die on either mine cart route, denzils fish issue, grand dizzys hearing problem, shamus looking irish guy, the croc, and thats all i can think of, although that is quite a lot. oh! and the hidden treasure.
The items I have are: a bird whistle, a bottle of oil, a heavy weight, grease gun, snorkel, reality goggles, large golden cup, glistening gem, umbrella, some bones, diamond tiped pickaxe, gas mask, twigs, gravediggers spade.
Please can someone piont me in the right direction? :v2_dizzy_confused2:
