Mysterious Realm Dizzy (HELP THREAD)

Bleedin' heck, it's a bit early to be starting a help thread for this game (which came out last night!) but I'm well and truly bamboozled. (So congrats Meph!)

I'm famously lousy at video games anyway, but I don't think it's my skills at fault here, so much as my brainpower! Assuming we don't need to white-out "spoiler" stuff in a help thread, I have the following items:

[fishing] rod
green eye
super-8 [camera]
penny


I've collected five coins so far (cloud a few screens above the lion, cloud at the upper right of the treehouses, behind a log, behind a rail, and in the crypt).

So far I have stolen the key, unlocked the chest, given David Tennant (:v2_dizzy_happy:) the skull, entered the crypt, got the rock to bust through the floor, repaired the rope to get the gold coin and the penny, put one Z in the mysterious stone. (Whited out just in case.)

Puzzles that are unfathomable to me:

Stop the lion's paw bleeding
Enter the hut or the castle [assume Danny's key will do one of these]
Help Danny [assume I need to catch a fish elsewhere and give to him?]
The well [penny won't go in - something to do with King Midas and/or gold?]
Move the tomb [how does one play "The Streets of Cairo" and is this where?]


So stumped already and barely into the game!

I don't want anyone giving me the answers as such, but any slight cryptic hint at what to do or where to look that I haven't already would be much appreciated! I've gone everywhere I can think of multiple times and am out of ideas for the moment. I had hoped a new day might bring new ideas, but not so much...

i'm at exactly the same points as you humbert only i've got 7 coins, i'm thinking we need to find the whole lot to give the shopkeeper then maybe things will happen, but that meph is a devil he hopes we'll all be stuck for weeks and he could be right!!!!:v2_dizzy_walkman:

(One of them wasn't up there by the rope, in that castle turret was it? I haven't found a way to jump in there, certainly...)

well one of the coins is out on the clouds to the right, can't go anywhere from jumping off their either, i can't find a way into the castle from the clouds, really seems like there's nowhere to go from here, don't even think there are 20 coins to be had where we are i've clicked on every bit of space there is!!! oh well just keep wandering around and something mysterious might happen! :v2_dizzy_confused2:

also i think i've found a bug. if you walk left from the attic, you can get into the gold room. if this isn't a bug, then the room you walk into from the attic not having a name definately is!

Because like everyone you need to find the best fishing spot., dipping your rob any old place wont get you results.. plus the first part didn't have any fish in it. plus one of those chains has a coin on the and the other is were Dizzy picks up the fish.


The wall isn't a big but the name is.

And the book is a clue for something.

This sure is Fantastic
The gameplay and story are great - the Wizard Weirdo bit really binds the story together - and the dizzy letters powerups - What a really novel concept!! - A really ingenious way of making you earn your bread, rather than leave power ups lying around

Ive msgd you a couple new bugs and some typos

For those of you who havent quite finished playing this yet - dont despair, there are some easier puzzles in the game - and you only have to find 20 coins so keep perservering

but be warned, just when you think things start to get easier - this game has a habit of bringing in a new surprise

And of course there's the 'Endgame' which is probably the most fun ending ive ever played in any dizzyage game

The Dizzy letters was a kind of 'test' for a bigger idea later down the line, i wanted to see if it would work first something to expand on later!

I like that concept of collecting the letters for the 'mysterious stone' screen, I got 2 fitted now.

No you dont, just dont jump up into the spikes..push against the sides a bit. Retiring for the night.

I'm guessing you did the first couple..... i hope so anyway,
the trick is timing you jump correctly... its better to jump on than to walk on when it passes, if you have energy and a life i wouldn't worry to much about the ball. If your not at that part then.... run run far away.

Yep, the endgame is great - I love the way that this game is not just about using objects to solve puzzles but theres some good old fashioned platform-game obstacles.

Im surprised how quickly people seem to want to ask for help in this game - what happened to the fun of solving the problems for yourself?
It's one of those games where the puzzles become really obvious (once you've solved them). And remember there will be a few red herrings, But this just adds to the fun.

Besides theres so much original scenery and variety to take in, I think its a pleasure to just walk around from one part to the next...

For those that havent completed this yet, take it slow, take time to think and enjoy.

For those that have completed it, play it again!
This is one of those games where whenever I play it, I notice new little details that I didnt spot first time round.

Medusa and King Midas you may need to think twice about, its pretty obviously if you know about those myths.

The only puzzle that maybe wasn't logical was passing the reaper but theres a kind of a hint about solving that when you met the wizard.
I tried not to drag it on and every puzzle added after the basic game was set up i made sure didn't drag but advanced it or give it more character. i was getting to the point were i really needed to build a more rooms for all the objects, people and puzzles but more rooms would have indeed dragged it out more so i key it compact and busy.

Biggest mistake was not making the room size bigger.
And i thought the Dos version of Zaks looked different enough to be another charicter but 'dizzy' enough not to look out of place.

I'll post a full walkthough an a few weeks.


I've decided my next game whenever that will be wont have as many characters just the yolkfolk maybe and i want the puzzles to be like the first dizzy game.. in the way you kinda have to just do them without being told its locked or blocked, probably a simpler story and many obstacles during the world.. i tried to limit them in MRD for the end.
I want to expand on upside down world, making it bigger and more complex.

Anyway it will be different, and thats next year.

I definitely know what you mean - although I was rather quick to post here, too!

I'm generally avoiding the thread, skimming past anything spoilery just to see how people are getting on. Once someone explained the thing that had all of us stumped, I have steered clear of having anything else explained for me.

That said, I'm pretty stumped again, but I'm taking a break and playing "Illusion Island" Dizzy which... has me equally stumped.

The only Dizzy game I ever completed without help was Kwik Snax. I finished Treasure Island by reading where the last coins were, and read a walkthrough of Magicland in a magazine and hated myself for it later. (Completely ruined the game for me.)

Still, I imagine I'll have to come back to ask for help here again - and in the IID one, unfortunately. Cause I really am rubbish at these games!

I'm really confused by the thin ice! Some folk are saying you just jump over it but I've tried all ways, and there's no way. Others are talking about a feather, which I cannot find anywhere.

Otherwise I think I'm getting towards the end, save that damn Y over the thin ice and 2 coins - one is in Blood Money, which has run away from me from both sides :v2_dizzy_confused2:

Too set the record straight
You need an item to cross the thin ice. I should be able to guess what it is once you've collected it.

As for your runaway coin.. just pick it up.

I remember as a younger lad - I had to explain to my mum (several times), that the much used premium rate numbers appearing on the phonebill were to Codemasters helplines (not the other sort of premium rate number that curious boys might use - although I suppose there is a similarity between those sorts of calls as Dizzy also doesnt wear pants ...?!?)

Not been playing since I got stuck after collecting all the coins & polishing the item...so I moved onto Illusion Island but now stuck on that...wouldnt be Dizzy if you wasnt stuck somewhere along the lines lol.

Anyway any hint as to what to do with the shiny coin, I also have the mint & olive oil. Dunno how to get to the castle.

You can't kill it but you can deactivate it providing your holding the correct item, hard to give a hint without giving it away but if you think about Magicland Dizzy you may know it once who find it.

thanks for that piece of advice. ive now got all the way to the water parts of the game. my only problem here is that when i get to the screen with loads of sand and what appears to be a chest, i cant get to it. is this possible? if so how? ive tried evrything i can think of.

OK, not "just". I've been stuck for the past few days. In my defence, I haven't played Dizzy games in nearly 15 years :)
I have [whiteout follows]:
garlic, olive oil, mint, green eye, penny (not yet shined, I'm guessing), super strong rope, pipe.
I *think* I know what to do with some of them, I just don't know where to do it with those things! :0)
Since I draw the map of the game as I go along, here are the furthest rooms I've got to in each direction:
- up on top of to trees I can't get to Zak's Castle;
- to the left, I'm stumped on King Midas, and in the Sisterhood Castle;
- to the right I can't get past the Blocked Mine;
- I saw Flood One (?) room below, but drowned trying to open the gate.
Oh, and I have 15 coins so far. Hayelp! Any hints appreciated! Well, not any, only those that will actually help me along ;)

when exploring in the trees, have you gone into any huts?
im not sure whether you've solved the 2 miners puzzles - if not id focus on them - but not with the objects you have tho....

If you have the rope, pipe you must have been into the caves? You should know were the pipe goes, look around the castle, and i would have thought the green eye was an obvious one when you find it. either of those two should get you further.. you can even use the super strong rope.. so a couple of things you can do.

All right, so it's Tuesday and I'm stuck again :0)

I have 18 coins and the following objects:
olive oil, mint, garlic (all yum), cross (already used), snorkel & super strong rope (I opened the underwater gate but I can't seem to be able to swim up - do I need flippers? I saw those mentioned somewhere, but where are they?), shades (I've come up to Medusa with them on, but what next?), the not-yet-shined penny. I have 18 coins and the following objects:
olive oil, mint, garlic (all yum), cross (already used), snorkel & super strong rope (I opened the underwater gate but I can't seem to be able to swim up - do I need flippers? I saw those mentioned somewhere, but where are they?), shades (I've come up to Medusa with them on, but what next?), the not-yet-shined penny. you'll need the cross again if you didn't collect the coin that was there! the flippers are underwater in the caverns and the medusa should be apparent if you know you need to shine the penny - once you get the flippers you'll be able to go for the letter D :v2_dizzy_walkman:

Speaking of "ending"... I think I'm stuck in Zak's castle. I have the lightning rod and I've tried putting it just about everywhere, tried catching the zaps and the ball, etc., put it on every shelf (or maybe not?), even tried to make my way back to the entrance, but I couldn't get out of the "invisible" maze.
I'm so close I can smell it... or maybe it's the lightning striking and frying me :) Help !

I got frustrated so I finished Knightmare Dizzy, Summer Blast Dizzy and Starship Dizzy in the meantime!

The Rod is used in Zacks room, the only puzzle is what spot.
Theres no clues or reason why that place works..and others don't.. not everything is logical and worked to a plan.. but try one of platforms.




As for the Vampire complaint.
1. They don't eat Garlic. lol

2. Garlic on;t prevents them from biteing you, its a repellent.
There for Dizzy would still need to find a way past her...

Thats because Dizzy doesn't know he has to fix the pipe yet.

You'll have to chat to some people and see if any of them are bleeding.

All the letters will work if you stand in the correct place.. you don't stand in front of them you need to be slightly left of the letter.

Nah that penny wont work.. hos are you meant to kill a Medusa with just a normal penny...

The hut is open, the key you stole (im guessing its that key) you use on the chest in the hut which gives you the green eye to access the upsidedown part why you still have the key i don't know.

Did anyone else keep the key after using it??

yeah i realise the clue is in the name, but, well, there's nothing i need to be light for! or for that matter, that anyone else needs to be light for as far as i can remember.

oh and the issue with the yellow button was that A. i didn't realise it was magnetic, and B. i thought i'd have to move the stone to get to it, so was waiting for a crowbar or pickaxe or something like that.

and flippers. and I'll say this because its something i should change but the flippers are under that 'underground pond' As you'll need to swim under the church as well you'll also need the flippers, so do that one first when you get to it. its not a problem but pretty frustrating if you do the other one first and can't get out.


Anyway i think theres some clues in the chruch that will help you further. at least thats were you now need to be looking into.

Its not meant to. The snorkel doesn't fit over the shades.. Dizzy has to take them off to wear the snorkel.

Oh help, I'm confused!

Here's what I have: strong rope, mint, garlic, olive oil, pipe, green goblin, green eye and penny

I have to solve: lion, princess, humpty dumpty, sisterhood snake thing, the reaper, medusa and the professor (but I think I can see the button - just can't get it).

I've done the troll, the fish, the actor and the irish guy.

Can anyone give me any tips? Just hints to send me in the right direction!

OK, now I really am properly stuck!

I have: mint, garlic, shades, penny, coat, olive oil and strong rope. Do I use the coat or was it to get me through that icy bit?

I need to sort out: medusa, king midas, the reaper and humpty - maybe some other things, but I can't remember!

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, I have 16 coins. I can see one at the top of the castle - am I supposed to be able to reach it? And is there one in the backyard tree? Cos I have been jumping around and have found that there are kind of platforms in the tree - but I can't get any higher up than the mint. If there was an obvious coin there, I've got it, but I'm thinking there might be a hidden one if I can get on up. Is it worth all this jumping around? I also can't get the coin in 'blood money'. I chased it round the castle, and it has now lodged itself under the skeleton's armpit! I can't reach it or think of any way to get it down...

Thanks Meph! I've now sorted Humpty and Midas, and been snorkeling. I think the only things I have left to do are the stone guy and medusa. I think I need all the coins before I can do medusa though.

I got the pickaxe before going into the caves - used the green goblin and got the pickaxe from the guy.

I now have 17 coins, plus there is one at blood money which I haven't gone to get yet, so 2 more to find. The one at the top of the castle looks like it's in an attic thing - I can only see it when I am on the clouds in the room called 'Top of the castle', but I can't get to it!! And there must be another one lurking somewhere that I haven't seen yet.

I'll head off to blood money now, and then just 2 coins to go!

I've done all the letters.

Any more help will be much appreciated!

I remember that the reaper was the one puzzle that didn't seem obvious even after being solved... but I can't remember how I solved it!

If you give a list of what you have, then I might remember... But try a few things and you should get past. You don't have to go all that close, just drop them beside him and see what works!

Don't worry - the escaped coin is not impossible to reach - just jump around a bit and you'll find it's not hard to get to!

The other one is also easier than it looks!

Managed to get the one at the top of the castle (cheeky!) but I am going mad "jumping around" from every conceivable direction (well obviously not every direction because I haven't got it yet!) to get the coin in blood money and it just stays stuck there taunting me.... To be honest, I can't remember exactly where you jump, but you don't have to come from the upper left entrance or anything like that. As far as I remember, you either jump straight up from somewhere on the floor, or jump left from the steps on the right.

When you jump, you might notice Dizzy crashing into an invisible platform, so you can use that as a guide.

you need to jump from the fair right entrance.. you should land on an invisible tile and Dizzy will hover about. get close to the edge as you can and just do a simple left jump, it shouldn't be a problem.

You can;t reach it from the floor, and i don't think you can reach it from the stairs

Although I’d never have got through that ending if it wasn’t for the trusty save option… Ah, the days when that wasn’t an option and you’d spent 5 hours playing a game only to die right at the last minute and have to face the whole thing again…

Well, call me a total thicko, but am really stuck on this game, even after scouring all the help pages!

Not counting the items that have coins hidden behind them, I have some mint, a pipe (that I assume I can't use on the machine until I've given the bloke his yellow button, which I can't get till I find a magnet somewhere). some garlic (which I can use to protect myself when I find a vampire), some strong rope (which I don't think I can use till I find the scuba and flippers) and a green eye (sorry Meph, but I really can't think of a connection for this), plus have dumped 3 letters on the magic stone. There's a bucket behind the grim reaper, which I assume I use on the well for the king (had to check the river name on Wikipedia for the myth) ...and only 14 coins. As far as the coin in the blood money room goes, it has moved to beyond the ledge above the troll ..and I've tried jumping up and diagonally from every spot in the room (including the steps) and got nowhere. I can't seem to jump on any picture in the castle either, which someone mentioned.

I assume that somehow, I have to find something to move the ice block in the castle ...and some form of equipment to move the rocks by the mine, which should open up the game for me to get stuck again.

So, when you've all finished laughing at my feebleness any chance of a hint please.

Sounds like you need to help the Dwarfs, i believe one of them didn't have the correct pic and the other was extremely thirsty.

p.s the myths say Garlic will not kills vampire just prevent you from being bitten. worth remembering.

Thanks Meph, but my IQ seems to have deserted me. I've just run back and forth trying everything again on the two dwarfs who just aren't interested in anything I've got ...nothing fits in the well (just on the off chance that I could empty the oil down a well and get some water) ..and can't think of anything that I can use elsewhere to get either a pick or something liquid.

Grandad, you might be missing an item that you need to help the thirsty dwarf (the one guarding the ice entrance) that you haven't mentioned. It wasn't immediately obvious to me, just a trial and error, it's green and the clue about jumping on the pictures in the castle is relevant in getting it, it's above the chef. Hopefully that will help you help the other dwarf and you will open up a bit more of the game...

Thanks AddictedDizzy - I did manage to find it after trying jumping around all over the place ...problem was I started from the wrong end of the map, so it took quite a few hours to find the spot ...and then having solved the 'miners' spent the next few hours dying in the icy caves!!

After reading the fairy tale, i gave the coin to the king but was suprised that he didnt turn it to gold and all the reaper says is that it is not my time yet, iv'e also tried medusa turning the coin gold and still can't find snorkel, feather, pipe or the padded jacket.

The piece of pipe is given to you by someone. You should have the item they want. It's the "Super 8" found in the hut above the actor, where you found the green eye.

It was the one behind the rock in the ice cave.That is the one that I missed the first time that I played. Because I was more worried about not being hurt by the drip than looking for coins. Even the three or four times I was searching the entire map looking for it.

Sorry for looking for help on an old game but if anyone can remember exactly where to use the pipes i would really appreciate it. Have been stuck for a while now. I have feeling the game may open up a little bit if i can solve this
