Remember this?

Well, someone here (i believe the admin?) was interested in having a look at the document from Codemasters to forward onto (i think) Phillip Oliver?

Unfortunately i hadn't kept a copy of the document but i've received the copy i sent to the Official X-Box 360 Magazine this morning, so if that person could come forward with an email address, i'll gladly forward them the file :)

Thanks!

While unauthorized fan translations are indisputably illegal (Article 8 of the Berne Convention explicitly reserves the right of translation to the copyright holder and whoever receives permission of them, saying "Authors of literary and artistic works protected by this Convention shall enjoy the exclusive right of making and of authorizing the translation of their works throughout the term of protection of their rights in the original works."), it is unusual for copyright holders to object.

So I guess this may be a bit more complicated as both Codemasters & Blitz share copyright on Dizzy?

How can Codemaster, Blitz or the Oliver Twins put a restraining order on someone writing a Dizzy game?

They're not producing a Dizzy game and it seems like they don't have any intention to. I've also read in a lot of forums that people have tried contacting them and do not get replies.

I don't think it would stand up in court, unless they were making a profit from it and not paying a royalty.

Anyway, the codies should just put out a press release concerning their stance; what they intend to do etc just so everyone who cares knows whats going on. I know if they were working on a new fantasic game, I wouldn't try writing a 3D Dizzy game

I know this thread is months old, but if Codemasters and Blitz were to be absolute about this what would happen if they found out about DizzyAGE and all the fan games? :O

Blitz Games already know about all the Fangames on here and they're OK with them all as long as fans respect the brand, meaning that Dizzy was originally aimed for young people and must not contain adult material.
We used to have somebody from Blitz on the old Forum and once posted some basic guidelines for people who want to make Fangames.

I'm not sure about Codemasters but this is all I remember. :v2_dizzy_confused2:

We also had someone work on a Xmas themed Dizzy game once and started to worry the moment the piece from the Magazine was posted which was a real shame because everyone was looking forward to it :(

It's a shame Blitz never did something with the 3D animation test that they did on www.fantasticdizzy.co.uk. The animation itself is great I think, Dizzy has the over-sized wobbly 'penguin' walk (cos of his shape) that you'd expect, he has the right facial expressions and the little sample 'gaming' sections (tight rope walk, bridge run etc) all look promising. I realise of course they never planned to make a game out of it, it's just a test of what he'd look like in 3D, but if they did ever embark on such a project I think they got the right ideas there.

I just love the way he wobbles when he runs as I say, and I like the fact he hasn't got arms or legs, a la 'Rayman'. It's just so spot on for me.
