Greetings to everyone! I am glad to join the biggest Dizzy community ever. Nice to see, that old school still lives in that god-forsaken world :v2_dizzy_happy:. Stay as you are, guys,... but keep moving. Dizzy-series games are (not were!) the most interesting and intelligent quests I ever saw (IMHO, of course :dizzy_cool:) and I think that it's not deserved to be vanished in so-called "modern culture". So let me offer my mite...

I'm a programmer from Russia and I want to acquaint you with my alternate editor for making quests for our hero Dizzy. This editor was not inspired by DizzyAGE, so it might seem a little bit unintelligible, but I hope it could be interesting, at least. The prototype for editor is a program called DIZED, that was on ZX Spectrum. But don't search for any likeness, it's just gave me idea. I really need to know your opinion about my editor, because I don't know, should I upgrade it further or not.

The editor runs under Windows XP or Vista and could be downloaded from SourceForge.net:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/dqe/dqe2-v0.2-bin.7z

You may find an additional information about project on it's homepage (but prepare to many grammatical mistakes :D):
http://dqe.sourceforge.net/

P.S. May be, I'll not be able to answer to your replies quickly, but keep in mind that it's not because of ill breeding, but because of lack of time.

I was meaning to mention something about your Dizzy Quest Editor yesterday but I've been really busy lately.

Any chance you mention this on a new thread in the 'General Discussion' section of the Forums too?

I've had a look at it too and the sample game, It looks quite good :).

Hello and Welcome!

Your Dizzy Quest Editor looks like a serious project.
I had a short look at it and I must congratulate you for your work!
Of course, you have a long way ahead.
Two years ago, I though DizzyAGE was ready...

My advice, is to build a full Dizzy game with your editor.
Try to make it look as professional as possible, and in the Dizzy-style.
Support Dizzy specific fonts, have a Dizzy-tiles set, etc.

Documentation is one aspect that it's never enough....

Another thing you should have in mind is portability.
This is very important, especially when you want other people to make their
games with your editor. You must assure them that they'll be able to play their games in the future.

It's better to avoid features that are too specific to the current platform,
or to one of the libraries you use.

One of my targets for DizzyAGE engine was to be easy to port to another platform,
and if this happens, games packs must play without change.

I like the email contact and bug report support even in the game player :)

I wish you good luck with it!

Alex
