What do you reakon on the idea of having more walkthroughs on Fangames on YouTube?
Mataeus
05-09-07, 12:27 PM
Here I am for the umpteenth time starting up an old thread... He he.... I think to have multiple youtube fangames walkthroughs is an excellent idea, as long as the quality is kept up. As we all know, Youtube compresses everything to hell, so some times videos can some out looking and sounding a little... You know.... Crap.
Apart from that, hosting videos for solutions is a great idea!
Incidentally, the video solutions that PTeal posted ages ago I cannot get to run at all. Have they been removed from the host site do you know?
They used to be hosted on Theo's Grotto, but the site had not long ago merged with Yolkfolk.com, If you go on the Videos page of the site, you should be able to find what you're after :)

Saw the new Tim Burton film Sunday.. 'Sweeney Todd' *drool*
bloody good.
While its a musical they don't just stop and start doing a dance routine or anything.. its more of a poetic dialect then anything else,
Alan Rickman was right Blood should have been giving a credit in the title sequence for playing the part as blood.. . okay it wasn't gory, it wasn't meant to disturb or scare anyone.. come on its Tim Burton.. but its so stylish and artistic very fake.. its looked tragically beautiful... fantastic.
and heres a guy who normally faints at the site of blood...

at last.. the 6 disc box set collection..
and it comes out on the 3rd.. Woohoo
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w9/Wombstar/ray.jpg
loads of time to play Dizzy.. lost my job.
big boss in France has decided due to lack of profit this easter about 6 of us was giving the boot.. and not department is allowed to spend any of theses budget.. lol
oh well,
they hope to call us all back in a few weeks ifs things start to pick up.. its almost a grantee but you never quite know.. if this weather keeps as bad as it has been then none of us will get called back and others will be giving the boot.. an odd few days for rain is fair enough but its been nasty this easter break and not even the massive Halloween success was enough to keep the balance.. it almost did but last weekend it became game over.
:(
Better find were next weeks money is going to come from...great.
Sorry to hear that, Meph. It's never a pleasant feeling, being made redundant; I hope things work out for you.
Sorry to hear Meph , where did you work?
working in the art department on a local theme park.
so anything involving paint..only been there 6 weeks.
But we lost so much money this easter the big boss in France kicked 6 of us out.. but we should be back soon.. they hope to call us all back later on in the seasons once profit is being made.. its just one of those things, Self employed anyway so tis not quite so bad i tend to come and go with different companys anyway.. just has no job security.
aw man! fingers crossed, your back to work soon!
back to work tomorrow.
kinda frustrating.. this bloke is always so last minute.
phoned him Saturday because i needed to info for my tax return that he never gave me. he then phoned me back at half eight Sunday wanting me to 'start' tomorrow. lol at least he stopped phoning me at 10pm and wanting me the next day. oh well, it was bound to happen i seem to do work for theses guys every summer/all summer for the past 5/6 years, i just can't seem to get/keep away from them..lol
knowing my luck the other company will phone me in the next week or so and want be back in the art department..lol
Normally happens. but looks like they will have to hang on until the end of the years or next Jan/Fed again.. oh well can't have it easy all the time.
just annoying have to juggle theses things, made it easier one contact had no work at all this year.. which meant things just even out for me with the extra work i did get, but its just a case of not losing any contacts and trying to keep them happy, things normally work out.
This means, no more playing with Dizzy age for a while.. wouldn't have the time now, well not as much anyway.
this was my clip for the the Doritos advert comp.
didn't make the top 5 natually..lol but i had fun doing it.
kinda limited as i had to follow the rules.. i fact it was hard keeping it at 29 seconds. and was my first use with a wire armature which was better than nothing but still not a s good as i had hoped. i guess after using a ball and socket one theres no turning back but the one i have is/was far to big. really need a 6/7" one.
anyway have a giggle

the guy is a moron.
does he have nothing better to do with his time? such as, for example, playing near a bus depot?
I think the fact that this guy can't beat what's probably the easiest fan game in existence speaks volumes.
yes!
been reading the news about the new Ghostbusters movie!
Also.. the new computer game.. just watched the trailer and i think I'll get a copy, not a big gamer but theres a few i like.
Anyway.. watching the trailer just reminded me of the original game and just how things have really progressed.. and that the busters haven't been forgotten.
eeeek i've just realised that i have more than one 7th of all the posts on these forums.... :O
Pointless posts don't count :p j/k ;) Seriously though, It's something to be proud of :say_yes:
Strangly, It's usually me that posts a lot, on the previous Forum I had about 2000 posts :O

Never mind you can have an afternoon nap before getting back to doing some dizzying - hope your night out was worth the tiredness - and not to worry all-nighters get less and less as you get older :v2_dizzy_tongue2:
didn't finish work until 10.30pm Friday.. but i did and an hour/45 minutes off to get some tea.. you gotta eat no one can deny me some grub and a coffee.
while it only works out i did 14 hours work.. minutes the hour for tea its still minimal to most people theses days.. but then I'm do physical work not office work its hard enough fitting in 10 House without collapsing.
and i still stayed up to 3am.. LOL i did so much i couldn't relax.
Lucky I'm not working Saturday but back sunday... great,

Lucky I'm not working Saturday but back sunday... great,
a few years ago when i was still working in shops i did from 7am until 1am the following morning, with only half an hours break for lunch. that was fun. :)
that was the most hours i've ever done in one shift. i knew someone at the same company that once did a 26 hour shift tho. and had i been there longer i would probably have attempted to beat that with 2 night shifts, and just not going home inbetween :p
haha good times. in retrospect. :dizzy_cool:
Thats terrible.. theres no way anyone can work efficiently with those hours,
in fact its been proving the more hours we work and less productive we are.. and i've proving that to myself over the last years.. cutting my hours down i noticed i was getting twice as much work done.. lol and feeling so much better for it.
But we have those 48 hour working law or something that Europe wants to force on us.. some family's can't live on 48 hours work.
On average i only do 9 hour days.. luckily for me many clients don't want to banning on there door at 6am or staying the tea..lol
Work to live not live to work.. id rather have alittle less cash and more time with my family.
hah i once worked 84 hours (not including 2hrs travelling a day) in one week with an old employer. when i left that store, i worked out that it'd averaged over 60 hours a week - over 5 months.
didn't bother me at all. i'm a bit of a workaholic.
i also once saw a list detailing the managers who had worked the most hours in that week. top of the list was something like 107...
Yeah i could do 80 hours if i was working in a shop. providing i didn't pass out of boredom..and i like my radio and freedom. I guess thats the hardest part...
Compared to what i have been doing for the past 10 years stuff like that is a walk in the park and you couldn't give me enough work... id be to productive i have lost work in the past for that very reason..well thats the reason they gave me/ lol
Had that trouble in Feb when i was working in an Art department to tie me over.. gave me a list of job expecting that will be more than enough for the day but i could get them done with 3 hours left.. and thats taking things easy..lol it was too cold to drag them out so it was a case of spending the rest of the day hiding in the bogs or underneath one of the rides keeping warm and not getting caught!! Even easier when it was open..at least i have a few thousand people to talk too.. :P
Used to do 10 hours days but i was loosing money, it was working longer but jobs were taking longer,
As a rule i no longer work Weekends, and evenings.. however I've broken that rule 6 times this year (6 different jobs), not needing the money but not wanting to loose any work. I've has more work this year then i have in the last 6 years... credit crunch? what credit crunch... and I'm booked till Christmas with other work in line..weather permitting. Fantastic.
I am a bit lazy.
erm.
Merry Christmas?
Anyone doing it this year?

and to you meph and everyone else here - be nice if it snows :v2_dizzy_walkman:

It shouldn't snow... snow at Christmas is a but of a myth but sometimes we might get lucky.
From what i understand snow at Christmas was only common before they changed the calender.. which had December were January is.. which makes sence..... And ice dones't count!
lol

well you were right it didn't snow at xmas but now january is near it's getting cold enough for snow - so maybe some new year snow or change the calendars back to what they was originally - what were they before gregorian? anyway - i know nothing :v2_dizzy_confused2:

it was the Julian Calendar before the Gregorian. changing back would only push us about 20 days or so out tho.
it would be 27th Dec for almost a month! :P now that really would fuck up all of modern technology :P
quiggie
28-12-08, 11:33 PM
ah but would we really have a month of 27th Dec? surely times and dates are man-made, wouldn't it just be what it was before there were calendars and such like - just whatever...............:v2_dizzy_confused2::v2_diz zy_confused2::v2_dizzy_confused2:
dates and times are man made, but they are made to fit the solar year, so that we don't end up with snow and short nights in the middle of summer! It is why we have a leap day every 4 years. each year is about 365.25 days long, so by only having 365 days in a year, we 'gain' an extra quarter of a day every year, so a full day is stuck in every 4 years to compensate for it.
even after that, an extra second is occasionally stuck in once every few years to account for the gradually slowing rotation of the earth around the sun, although this is mostly to keep atomic clocks in time with UTC, rather than for any generally practical means.
Time is measured by nothing other than an imaginary clock.

Can't sleep, so I thought I'd come on here and post something in purple.
Somehow, in the dreamlike state of insomnia I find myself in right now, it
seems to make sense. Probably in the same way that I am the Walrus made
sense at the time the Beatles wrote it.
Goo Goo G'Joop.

it didn't. John Lennon actually said that he deliberately wrote it not to make sense. He was fed up with people trying to analyse the lyrics of their songs, and he actually said something like 'lets see the bastards analyse this!' :v2_dizzy_walkman:
And people claim they were superb song writers. :O

I've just remembered something I used to do! When I was about 9 or 10, I used to draw new pretend Dizzy game covers on a4 paper, and stick them up on my bedroom wall! I've only just remembered I used to do that, wow I wonder if they are still somewhere at my moms? I made up titles and everything... I wonder if any would match the Dizzy fan-games?
Wow, I've just experienced Total Dizzy Recall!
Sounds better then what pictures i found last time i cleared a box of old school work and other junk. People being tortured as a result of me going to the 'torture chamber' in a wax museum and Willy wonka.

I really like eggs. I mean, I really really love them. They are my favourite food. Yes, even more than cheese. Of course, a cheese omelette is enough to send me into sixties-style animated psychedelic delirium. Especially with mushrooms, maybe a bit of ham... Yum yum.
But yeah, I love eggs. Fried, boiled, poached, scrambled, with a breakfast, on a sandwich, as an omelette, with mayonnaise, salad cream, brown sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper... Though not all condiments simultaneously of course.
They are soooo quick and easy to prepare, soooo tasty and make excellent energy food to boot.
Why am I telling you this?
Because I feel bad... I feel bad that my favourite computer game character of all time (http://fightingfantasy.eamped.com/2009/09/27/favourite-video-game-character-of-all-time) is an innocent adventuring egg! And I just find them so irresistible!

Wow Mateus,
You seem to have done a Myleene Klass!!! (she gets bloody everywhere) - I logged on this morning to read all the dozens of new forum posts and they're all by you....
WOOOOOOT!!
Rage Against the Machine are Xmas number 1! :D
take that, Cowell!
Both are singed to Sony/BMG it's another marketing ploy/PR stunt.. because the band have gotten back together for some tours next year. So voting for Rage is no better then voting for Xfactor other then having something different in the charts. The band could have issued a new song than profit from past Glory's. i mean that song was already a big hit on 92.
Bottom line is the public is no better off, can't believe so many people got sucked in lol .. also those in support have just became what they were protesting about.
And i know the moneys going too charity thats the only decent thing to come out of this, and i can't believe so many people got

quite frankly, i don't give a flying sh*t who they're signed to. the fact is, RATM are NOT the x factor, and NOT part of Mr Simon f*cking-smug-grin Cowell's little empire. THAT is what people are protesting against.
We've grabbed our xmas number one back from the greedy clutches of Simon Cowell. And WE'VE done it. not some record company or music mogul, US. a social network campaign that attracted almost a million members, and it's actually worked!
I haven't seen anything like this since Lordi won Eurovision a few years back! :D
The fact is the greedy corporation won anyway. it dones't matter if it's Cowell, Xfactor, pop master or Sony..they are all part of the same company you used the phrase "greedy clutches of Simon" it's more the greedy clutches of sony/BMG executives who are now laughing all the way too the bank. The whole thing was set up to make money.
If you voted for Rage then you may as well had voted for Xfactor it's the same thing.
It's was just a way for Rage to get some much need publicity for their reformation and tours next year. They could have least issued out a new song.
Personally i don't really care about Simon and his Xfactors, or number ones as much as you clearly do, it's not important too me but i guess why beat them you may as well join them, Xfacoter only kept getting too number one because people bought the cds anyway
A real xfactor boycott would have been better with a more random song, not something 20 years old, thats already established and well known, trying to make money out of it or a band seeking publicity.
And if i was a member of Rage id be pretty pissed about being dragged into the mainstream and my music used to win a Christmas number one spot.. after all real musician don't give a toss about this. But I'm not a member..and I'm not profiting from it so it doesn't matter.
Thankful it wasn't a band i have any time or interest in other wise id be extremely pissed off.

Indeed you didn't...who was that before you...wheres the direction of the cooler lol
Actually I could do similar seeing as weekend is over and back to work trudging in the snow & cold
making my way there in the pitch black...
Another hot topic lol...is anyone else fed up of this climate change saga...
Rage were part of it from day one, they even promoted it themselves on our radio stations (remember the radio 5 live performance a few weeks back)
No longer raging against the machine...they are now part of the machine.
I don't believe for one second this was just 'fan made' phenomenon. Those studios and labels are very clever people.. perhaps going behind the bands back to kick it off... we don't know.
Should have voted for Cliff Richard.. at least that would make more scene,
Edit: Whats there too say about climate change? your not going too prevent the earth of going though it's cycles. No denying it's happening but it's just a natural thing. I mean paying more tax wont stop it..lol Or maybe it will.. i mean if the Dinosaurs payed more tax they might be still alive today. Or maybe God will save us.. maybe it is an act of god.. i remember the bible talking about floods.

Meph, I feel that, like a lot of people in the media, you have taken this way too far - it's got nothing to do with the label they're on. It's the style of music, the way it is made and the message it portrays, it's the hard work a genuine passionate artist puts into his livelihood versus the manufacture of one-hit-wonders purely for profitable gain. It's the difference between being a good looking young man that a TV program can whisk up and sell to the nation in a couple of months versus 5 years grinding down the pub to build a fan base from the back of an old transit. It's REAL music versus manufactured bullcrap.
No one is protesting against Sony, or record labels, or even Simon Cowell - it's just about saying "I can choose who I want to listen to. I make my own mind up. I don't need to sit through a stupid TV show to tell me what to think and what to buy".
It just so happens that rock music and it's derivatives are usually the ones that have to do the grind. I guess it's the image versus the simply exploitable clean cut pop group. It's not always that way though: Look at Lady Gaga. To be able to hold a tune, and to be able to write/perform music you genuinely care for are completely different things. Joe is just a sellable commodity, a kind face to front the people that spend a couple of hours behind the scenes creating drum loops and simple, by-the-numbers 'music' that follows the pre-set path of comfortable listening. It is only marketing, and that's all it is. At no stage is any talent, in it's most basic definition, used. Do you know how easy it is to auto-tune a C# into an E in pro-tools? You don't even have to be a decent vocalist any more.
Millions of people buy into this every single day. All you ever hear is "The music business this, the music business that, in the music business". You never just hear "The music".
This is about people not wanting to do that any more.
The xfactor keeps getting number one because the public keeps buying it.. so they are choosing that they want to listen to, nobody is forcing them. Those who don't care about pop charts (like myself) who listen to other music ain't going to be fussed so this protest hasn't won anything.. it just looking foolish. Real bands and musician don't care so why do we?
The public can't be fed up with Xfactor pop if it was a number one contender.
The songs nearly 20 years old, it was a uk top 30 hit at the time anyway, pretty good for an alternative band starting out.. fans of such music don't buy in bulk, follow charts or really care. (it's a naff song anyway they have don't better)
I wonder how many people supporting this even like RATM.. most of them are just joining in because they are sheep or hate pop.. basically they have become what the rest of the public is to Xfactor, Theses people wont even look at the pop chart next week it never effect them.
Im just shocked that so many people consider the uk singles charts too be really really important.
And i don't know why people get so angry and offensive to those of us who was not part of the rage mission after all i can think for myself im not being told what i should be listening to or voting for.
p.s i don't know what Lady Gaga is. lol
And apparently i have extremaly bad taste in music anyway.
I just want to mention a little something about swearing, I know this is been dealt with already.
Now sometimes I don't mind swearing (depending on the way It's used), but Andy and Peter doesn't tollerate it being used here at all which is why I always censor mine just to play it safe.
There may not be any kids here but there are some people here that are offended by it and I never really want to be the one to cause offence.

'what' is a good way of putting it lol, I'm not a fan but some of her music is kinda catchy.

OMG, since when did swearing become socially unacceptable? especially from a nation where the xmas no. 1 is a RATM song with rude words in the lyrics
there are some people here that are offended by it and I never really want to be the one to cause offence.
I feel offended by anyone who finds swearin offensive - is that causing offence?
I probably have heard some of Lady Gagas songs without knowing.. i do sometime listen to the radio at work.
RATM preformed that song live on radio 6 about 3 weeks ago unedited and it took the presenter/producer a few minutes before he noticed so they had to quickly cut the band off.. LOL
Swearing has a time and place.. i don't think the forum is the time or place, it's also a pretty poor way to express yourself during a discussion, we all swear when we get alittle cheesed off, or bash your hand with a hammer but in a polite *public* conversation when someone disagreed with you is disappointing, loses all credibility.

well if its polite conversation ur after, maybe we should invite those nice young men from RATM over for tea and scones.....
Anyhow, we're all adults here - and those that arent probly know more swear words than I do.
On the lighter side - I'll award 10 points in the next easter competition for the first game that features in the intro.... Dizzy responding to another request to rescue the yolkfolk and find another 30 gold coins - by adopting similar dialogue as RATM were trying to express before Radio 5 cut them short...

Not really worth much discussion on this...if swearing is allowed within the rules of the Dizzy Community on the posts then you can swear to your hearts content (thats up to administrator)...ive seen these before and people will alway make the arguments for it so it no point...its all old hat...
Personally however I agree with Meph words above.

Sorted :)
I think Wit and Wisdom carries more of a punch than profanity, but there are times when only certain phrases will do.
As for Lady Gaga, she's not the overnight pop-sensation that everyone would happily take her for. She has done the grind, she has worked hard, performing in New York clubs since being a young teen, she does write her own material and choreograph her own shows. Everything you see is hers, her creativity, her own passion. She's not a Plastic Fantastic like Britney or Christina. But all of this gets overlooked simply because all the things mentioned above are things you associate with Rock bands. It just so happens that she loves pop music, that's her passion.
While we're on the subject, I'll share couple of my favourite performances with you, which I'm sure you'll all love ;)
I know it seems silly posting the same song, but I can't make my mind up which performance I like the most!

They got a special invite from the BBC to take part as their home builds are better then the ones used in the TV show.. plus they do it all for charity events anyway. So it was great getting that recognition.. Anyway just wanted to know if anyone saw us!!
I'll be back at the forum again soon as my puppet theater is having a glove puppet auction.. they got celebs to make glove puppets!! lol Stephen fry is the most uncreative man on the planet.. I might put in a sneaky bid for Terry Gilliam's handy work ;)
Maybe being roadie could be a new look for me :dizzy_cool:

What does it mean when your computer makes a load of beeping sounds when it boots up?
My desktop hasjustt started doing this recently.. a mixture of short and long beeps.
It works ok so fair.. but no doubt something is starting to go wrong.. and ideas?
I've been having a similar problem with my PC. I switch it on, then get one long beep followed by two short beeps, and nothing comes up on the monitor.
I've been told It's likely to be the motherboard, it wasn't very good.
That was almost 3 years ago, since then I've been using a laptop.
Even if I did get the motherboard replaced and find a way to save the files I had on the hard drive, I'll still need to find a new monitor, new keyboard and new speakers. I lost them since I moved last year.
I'm not sure if you're problem could be similar to mine.
While we're on the subject of having problems, I've had no anti-virus software for the last couple of days, mainly because AVG won't install, I always get an error at the end of the installation, and I don't get why! :dizzy_mad:

Beeps on boot up are your BIOS's way of telling you there could be a problem, you would need to check with your motherboard / BIOS manufacturer to find out what the meanings may be, as it may not be as serious as you think - for example, I used one BIOS (and I think this was pretty standard at the time, and may even still be) where it would throw a hissy fit if it couldn't see a keyboard.

I'll still need to find a new monitor, new keyboard and new speakers. I lost them since I moved last year.
how on earth can you lose a monitor? :v2_dizzy_confused2:
One of the things it did do today was randomly load up a couple of dozen web browsers and then ran of of virtual memory. This is the second time it has done this, the first time started all this beeping nonsense.
Cheers for the link Grandad
how on earth can you lose a monitor? :v2_dizzy_confused2:
It's a long story really. I shouldn't really say lost as I have a clue where It's kept.
For my whole life, I used to live in a mobile home in the corner of a residential park.
Last christmas, I ended up moving to a council house with my dad, and almost all the furniture and personal belongings are stored in a small caravan on my grandparents' farm.
Since I recently moved into my grandparents due to personal issues I can't go into on here, I don't have the key to that caravan, and I doubt I ever will.
It's kinda difficult to understand the way my family handle their lives really.
Plus, the monitor I had was an old fashioned one where the screen wasn't to bright, I don't recommend playing DizzyAGE games on it that's for sure, Jamie knows what I'm on about. ;)
Locksmith. :v2_dizzy_confused3:
That could help if I knew one locally. :p
I noticed once i've connected to the internet eveything works fine... but if i click on a folder first it loads up a couple of dozen.
You know what was wrong with my pc the enter key was stuck down. :hitwall:

This is as good as any animated music video Ive seen
You have a great talent

:v2_dizzy_clapping:
Thanks for the kind words.
It didn't quite go according to plan, i had a serious issues with lighting this time and it shows.. although i tried to hide that by implying there was a faulty lightbulb in the clip. Certainly something to improve in next time.
That is truly some brilliant stop-motion animation there, Phillip. :)
I really liked it. It have it's specific theme :)
In fact, I liked it enough to register, vote, like and comment.
Yes, the lightbulb trick worked for me, I bought it!
I wait for next video :)
You can vote every 24 hours ;)
I think the chart thing is a 2 week event, if you're not at certainly place in two weeks you get kicked off. lol.
Beat100 are quite well known for supporting new unheard music so their opinions, chart and awards are worth something. But I'm just interested in getting the video out and getting people to view it.
Maybe it wont be three years until me next lol

Wow, that's really good Meph. Agree with the above, the lightbulb 'problem' was turned into a very nice 'feature'. I have certainly seen professionally shot stop-motion animations that are not as good. It is a skill that is incredibly hard to get right, and must take a bloomin' age to produce! Congratulations!
professional level have got it easier...lol proper gigs and tie down systems the computer software, and a good lighting system. plus sets are a bigger and easier to Handel.. but all that means things take much longer.
I'm not much of an animator, which also gives you back pains, sore eyes and having your head next to a hot lamp is an all round horrid experience... but for some reason we still do it.
Had enough music videos for now, time to do a short movie.. something more personal.
The one thing i have never done is voice/narration.. maybe this will be the time.

When I studied music, a little while back now!! I made a video of one of my reggae/breakbeat tunes...tune was great, video was s@*t. I found it the other day, mildew all over my VHS tape. I gotta try and change the format and get it posted on Youtube. It sort of shows my age a little, the mastered original from the Tascam Reel to Reel was on a cassette tape.
