ok, so i was getting fed up of continually coding Rail Road Dizzy, and people were saying they hoped the game was going to be released soon (sorry - not until end of Feb 08), and i had a spare map that had been kicking around for 8 months.

so i decided to make a small new game. :D

<b>Winter World Dizzy.</b>

<img src="http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h129/temptationfeeder/Winter1.jpg" width="250">

<b>Story</b>

Dizzy is forced to return to Fantasy World to rescue Daisy from the Troll.

However winter has gripped Fantasy World, and things are not as he
remembers them. The weather has forced him to return in a barrel via
Smugglers Hideout, but that is the least of his problems...

Join Dizzy in this Winter Eggstravaganza as he helps the yolkfolk,
dodges ice and water, and explores the Fantasy once more.

<b>Download v1.33:</b>

<i>If you have v1.0 or v1.1, you are <b>STRONGLY</b> advised to update your version.</i>

<a href="http://dizzystories.110mb.com/gamedetail.php?game=4" target="_blank">Dizzy Stories</a> (v1.33)

<a href="http://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/dz016.html" target="_blank">DizzyAGE website</a> (v1.33)

<a href="http://www.yolkfolk.com/site/games.php?game_id=151" target="_blank">YolkFolk.com</a> (v1.33)

it's quite small, and fairly simple by my standards, but then, it has taken me just 5 days to completely code the entire game. As the map took me 2 days to draw back in March, that means the entire game has taken me just a week to do. :v2_dizzy_crazy:

anyway, you may find the map.... familiar, but i hope y'all enjoy it anyway!

So that's what all the questions concerning snow were about!

I look forward to trying the new game as soon as it's available. :D

yep, sorry to disappoint, but there will be no weather in Rail Road Dizzy.

i wanted this to be a surprise, so i asked about the snow in that thread.

I think we need spoiler tags for games like this

I actually love the sort of Dizzy games where Dizzy revisits an old place. :say_yes:

I found an unusual bug, I used a block of ice outside the right of the castle first, froze the ice slightly, then I used the block of ice found outside the left of the castle and the freezes the river no probs.

However if I use the ice block at the left of the castle first and the other the second, it still freezes the river slightly the second time too which means theres no way I can finish there :v2_dizzy_confused2:

Nice one TF, that's a mighty fine surprise you got for us there... I think this could be an answer to Claire's What we Want for Xmas thread ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and whoever it is that does that kind of thing can add Vista to the list of operating systems that DizzAGE and the DizzyAGE games are compatible on, as I have never had any problems running any of them. No compatibility mode needed! :)

Great game TF!. up to 22 coins so far, but i'm stuck! literally!
down below with the green dude. If you go up to the top level, dizzy gets stuck!
I too have had the same bug as previously mentioned

I found an unusual bug

adz, i'm simply not getting that problem. i've tried both ways, and both work perfectly. i've tried doing stuff inbetween using them, still works. if you can try and reproduce the problem, and let me know in a private message what you did, i'll look into it.

ooooo hang on, i've just had a thought.... let me go check...

yup, got it. it doesn't acctually matter which way you do it. the first time you do that puzzle, it will work 100% fine. if you then die, and start a new game, the game doesn't reset the variable it uses for the puzzle, so doesn't work properly whichever way you do it.

I've just corrected it, and sent v1.1 to alex to upload. i'm also hoping Andy will upload it to YolkFolk.com soon too.

in the meantime all you have to do to fix it is close the game and start it again every time you start a new game...

Sorry!

what do you mean by 'down below with the green dude. If you go up to the top level, dizzy gets stuck!'

please tell me before i give v1.1 to the guys!

EDIT: s'ok, i know what you mean. i'll fix it.

2ND EDIT: fixed. it's fixed in v1.1. i actually found another place in the mines you could get stuck too, so i fixed that as well. Thanks!

3RD EDIT: v1.1 is now up on the Yolkfolk.com website, you are advised to download it to replace v1.0

Well, I got stuck in v 1.0 but enjoyed the game very much. Just about to start 1.2. Considering people have finished it, it looks like this version may be the one! Where is the music from btw? The in-game music I mean? I love it... It's not familiar to me. This may be because I always play the '64 versions of Dizzy... I have the Speccy ones too on my 128+2, but I prefer the C64 one's....

delta
19-12-07, 07:16 PM
yes it seems v1.2 is bug free.

i'm unsure where the music is from. it's not from a Dizzy game, altho it is by the same composer, hence the same kind of 'feel' to the music.

I don't know whether you'd count these as bugs, but:

1) if you try to give the shopkeeper anything after getting past him, he merely repeats his diatribe about 15 coins.

2) getting picked up by the lift on it's extreme left hand edge (by standing in the rocky enclave) in the dragon's den results in you exiting by the left hand wall of the lift control hut. (The same effect as what happens with some of the lifts in the Amstrad version of Dizzy 1.)

hmmm yeah they are both small bugs. the first happens cause i forgot to change the status of the shopkeeper after you get past him. the second happens because i forgot it could happen, so i allowed the player to walk into that rocky bit.

neither are anything that affects the gameplay tho, so i'll leave it for now, and update it at some point in the future when i can be bothered. :p

delta
22-12-07, 11:11 AM
ok, so i had a small play of the game today, and found a couple of other small bugs, so i've done another small update.

Latest version is v1.21, which i've sent to alex this morning.

it fixes the following bugs:

shopkeeper bug (as detailed in a previous post)
rocks in the mine bug (as detailed in a previous post)
water graphic bug
version+author info

it also adds room names to a couple of rooms.

none of the bugs affect how you get through the game, so it's not an essential download. you only need to download it if you still have v1.0 or v1.1

if you have v1.2 there is no need to download it.

Adz.M
22-12-07, 02:42 PM
That means either me or Peter (Depending on who gets their first :p) will need to update the download on Yolkfolk as soon as Alex gets it on the DizzyAGE site.

it's just taken me about an hour to update WWD to DizzyAGE v2.21

the latest version of WWD is therefore v1.3

it's being sent to Alex and Adz as i type (well obviously not at the same time, but not far behind. :) )

Just in time for Christmas again! :v2_dizzy_walkman:

i missed changing a bit of code when updating it to v2.2 of DizzyAGE, so v1.31 is now the newest version, fixing an inventory menu bug.

hey Jamie

Havent yet tried the new version of WWD - is anything significantly different?? if so ill be giving that another go soon.

btw - if you do a new version of TTD, please could we have a save feature - its the only Delta game i havent completed - its all those boobytraps in the pyramid that do in for me: if one dont get you the others will...

Oh and i hope you aint gettin too down about all these bugs - I think its because all your games are such high quality, sometimes the gamers, like me, like to play them to see if we can force a bug - which is another challenge in itself.

But look on the brightside, for every bug youve corrected, theres probably 100s of lines of code that have been perfect. I think its also good when bugs are found as it gives me a chance to enjoy the game all over again when the new version comes out.

All in all - Every one of your games has been top notch - The world would be a lot poorer without them!!

Although Dizzy might not agree - he'd probably be thankful if he could put his feet up over xmas, rather than you finding new ways to drown, crush, eat, fry him etc...

Good stuff!:v2_dizzy_clapping:

the normal player should notice absolutely no difference between v1.31 and v1.21 of WWD. the only difference to the player is that you can't get stuck above the troll as shown in a post above.

TTD has already been updated to v2.2 of DizzyAGE, and won't get any further updates. especially not ones that include a save game, that would make the whole thing faaar too easy. :v2_dizzy_tongue2:

Ooh, this one is really fun so far! I just fell through the hole in the docks near where Dozy was in the original and lost my last life, so I'm going to take a break before I try again (I always forget and fall through there in Fantasy World!!) but I really like it so far ^-^
