I was wondering since I've signed up not too long ago. Are there Thief fans here and do they play any fan missions? Just curious...

Just for some of you that don't know who I am yet, I am the same GORT that makes fan missions for Thief 2: The Metal Age.

As I said in another thread reply to you, I also LOVE Thief2 (albeit, I havent played it for some time as the PC it was installed on has died and I havent yet installed on my laptop, as 2 kids kind of take up all the time I used to use for gaming). Best value game I ever bought as I bought it a fair few years ago on budget, 3 games for ?10. I played it (and the fan made levels) so much I have never even so much as installed the other 2 games I bought!

I bought it because I also loved Deus Ex which the same team made afterwards.

Thinking about it, it is quite similar to Dizzy in having to search around for objects hidden in obscure areas while avoiding the bad (good?) guys, albeit obviously with lots of differences as well, its more of a cerebral FPS.

I have subsequently bought Thiefs 1 and 3, but again, havent even installed them yet, the wealth of fan made games out there really kept me busy with Thief2.

I would strongly recommend Thief2 to anyone out there who likes a bit of FPS, but gets a bit bored of the 'look how many bad guys I can throw at you for you to mow down with a rail gun' school of FPS

Thanks for replying again. That's what I also liked about these games. You would have to figure out puzzles and ways not to confront the AIs instead of just going on a bloody rampage. Also, I like the editor for Thief 2. For me, its user friendly once you figure out the basics of it (which is quite easy). Also, its not really hard to make the player as someone other than Garrett. Right now, I'm creating "The Rebellion of the Builder 2". In this Fan Mission set, you are not only Garrett. You'll be able to play as a female warrior I've created, named Saria. As her, you need to stay by her code (no stealing and no killing the innocent). And the thing I also like is that its really easy to create my .3ds models in anim8or (doesn't have to be this program) and convert them into the game (objects and AIs).

For me, using anim8or and DromEd is kind of like working with a little more advanced version of Legos. :v2_dizzy_tongue:

I have Thief 2 the Metal Age one. I do like on knocking the guards unconscious, and then throwing them off balconies?Really great!
