You can now download Rock Dash Dizzy! :)

It's not an adventure game, but it's not quite an arcade game either. Guide Dizzy through the caves to grab as many diamonds for Daisy as possible, whilst dodging baddies and falling rocks.

There are 20 unique caves, each with 5 difficulty settings. After you complete each cave, you'll get a small 'bonus' cave to do, which if you complete, will then offer you the chance to save your progress. Don't worry, you can't lose a life in a bonus cave. If you get through the whole of a difficulty setting, you'll be given an extra life (if you need one). Have fun, and as always, let me know what you think!

One last thing. If you like it, please feel free to <a href="http://dizzystories.110mb.com/donate.php">donate</a>! :)

<b>Story:</b>

Daisy just can't resist shiny diamonds, so to get into her good books Dizzy has ventured into a series of caves with the promise of returning with lots and lots of them!

BUT Dizzy reckoned without the dangers contained in those caves, as Fireflies, Butterflies and falling rocks conspire to make grabbing those diamonds much more difficult than he first imagined!

Dodge falling rocks, kill baddies, escape Amoeba, and be prepared to run for your life in this fast-paced game as you help Dizzy to explore 20 unique caves and collect enough diamonds to keep Daisy happy!

The game is free to download and share, however if you like it, please consider <a href="http://dizzystories.110mb.com/donate.php" target="_blank">donating</a>.

<b>Thanks</b>

Many thanks go to Colin for testing the game.

I managed to save my game from the first bonus stage, however the game crashes when I try to load my save point :(

bugger. That's because I re-wrote the main code for loading each level, and changed the name of the functions. Of course I forgot that the load game code called those functions...

Version 1.10 fixes that bug. Previously saved games will now work. :)

It's only a pity that it loads so long... it discourages me. :(
I never played the original Boulder Dash, but I have long known the PC version, Rockford. (My mum, driven by those typical anti-game stereotypes, once said in a very dramatic voice: "Is there ANYTHING intelligent about this game?!". Now I would say: of course, this is arcade/puzzle, you have to think a bit to know how to solve the level.) So I was very happy about the Dizzy version, but as I said - all this waiting discourages me. Especially when the level already opens, but I have to wait endlessly (well, of course it's not really that long, but much longer than I expected) until the screen reaches the point where Dizzy is standing and then until Dizzy himself "loads".

Boulderdash also has that annoying wait before you can play the game, Jamie has copied it quite accurately!

yes, unfortunately there really isn't any way to reduce the time it takes to do that. There were two choices:
1. Wait that long (I tried to make it seem less time by moving the view over the level while it loads.),
or
2. No game.

there were no other options. If the game is made, it needs that long to load everything in the level. The only way for it not to take so long in loading is simply not to make the game at all.

Sorry, but I thought people would rather have the game than no game!

Don't mind the loading times (remember tape loading on the speccy?, 15 mins and then it failed?)
Jamie's version takes 20 seconds on my pc. maybe I've installed it differently, (admin privileges and all that.) first install was slow but since then it's been OK.:vhappy:
But to me the main point is that Jamie has shown us all what Dizzyage can do (and it's a great game:v2_dizzy_thumbsup: I remember Boulderdash on the spectrum)
(So there are some good things to come out of Glossop...:dizzy_biggrin:)

it should only take a few seconds to actually load the game. What she's talking about is the individual caves loading, and the time that takes.

It's not that big of a deal really. i think we're so used ti having everyone instantly now. It allows you time to stuff a biscuit on your gob and have a gulp of scolding hot tea. :v2_dizzy_cool:
