Story:-
Life's been pretty uneventful lately, for the all yolkfolks. That was until the Day of Daisy's birthday.
Dizzy is under orders to keep himself clean for the party. The gift is wrapped. The time had arrived to leave.
Little did Dizzy know that in a few short minutes, would he believe he would be swashbuckling his way
through time, pirates and folk that look strangely familiar?!
Can you help Dizzy find his way back home to his own time. He doesn't want to ruin Daisy's party.

Just downloaded & just loaded up, oh my lord not even started playing & blown away all ready, most impressive, the music is great...what a pleasure this is going to be !!

I don't think that's really a bug, It's probably because Blueshell doesn't like being looked at :p

Wow, the attention to detail as always is excellent, the music is class!
The HUD eyes are cool and the lives remind me of the extra life from Fantasy World Dizzy,

Jamie- regarding the message! Adz is correct, basically you aren't ready to speak to him further. it's just his gruff response to you just staring at him.
I dare not touch his code now! It took the best part of 3 weeks to get him working right!:dizzy_mad: his code tied into about 15,000 different places!

I spotted a bug in the cave, left from where you start, where you shouldn't be able to enter the dark. Keep the left key pressed while hitting enter to close the message - player will pass the collider and be able to fall down in the dark :)

Clever use of the heavy boulder, found a few collectables in the dark caves, trying to find my way around.

Never had so many items all at once, got around 15+ & 19 collectables.

Just done some explosive work, love these glowing crystal area caves & not just for glowing, just when I was going to exit too ;)

haha I don't know tbh, it'll probably be fine.
Not a joke I would have made tho... bit close to the bone for me! :p
maybe change it in a future version to something less specific, such as 'maybe I should wait for it to be recalled!'. Rather loses some of the potency tho.
how about if I changed it to Toyolka?

I have managed to get stuck in the hotel - I got to the locked door on the ground floor with a coin behind it, accidentally examined the scroll box and then got sucked up the wall!! I am now at the top of the stairs (nearly!) next to the occupied room.

oh well, lucky I have only just started....
hmmmm yes, it seems that the material map is redrawn after the scroll box is faded out, and in that time Dizzy can move slightly. In theory, he could get past almost any small barrier...!

Mmm yes you get pass those locked doors in the hotel using the Examine Scroll box & presumably any other barrier...but just won't.
i've sent off a new version that should fix these. I managed to do it without touching the map, so previous saves will still work!
Toyolka does sound better thinking about it :laugh:

Colin, what happened to the music you had in the outside area with the blue rabbit and the Dylan-like character?
I'm picking up the Magicland theme tune in that area. :confused:
EDIT: Also something odds gone wrong with walking into the entrance of the second dark cave.
The text saying "Good job I have the latern" keeps appearing even when I press enter to make the message go, I had to keep holding right and tapping enter until I was close to the doorway of the caves to make the message go.

The latest version (v1.01) is available on DizzyAGE.
I had trouble with my main pc last night (again) and I did the edit on my laptop. something went wrong with it. I've sorted the pc for the moment and have refixed those problems on the the dev copy.
v1.02 is being sent. Again saves will still work. sorry everyone
v1.02 should now be up :)
Btw. The bugs I mentioned have been fixed but I think you have the wrong readme file in the zip, the Game History doesn't mention v1.01 and 02, and in the special thanks section you've put me down as Matt instead of Adam :p
Sorry, but I've found another bug!
examining the scroll box while on the ladders. when it exits, I get an error from line 33 of movement2.gs
also, jumping out of the water in the glow-cave plays the wrong music.
It's hard for me to say(don't ask why) but...It's a really good game.
Only 2 DizzyAges impressed me:
Excalibur Dizzy and Dizzy Lord of Darkness.
Pirates Life Dizzy is Third game.
I like dialogues,story and grafics effects.But puzzles are a little...hmm..hard?
Finding lantern is logica and all but,finding spot where root works to get lantern was real pain.
Also,I'm stuck.Again.
This is bad-due to my nature I'm not going to use solution:confused:

I have found a bug as well, sorry :(
If you jump right from the end of Dock Road towards the ships figurehead, you fall out of the map and just keep falling....
joining the boat again from the garden area, the same music plays.
also, getting off the boat at the plantation still plays the same music
same with joining the boat from the plantation
(Love) Bug?
Leaving the mine cart ride, when I approach the love bug, no matter which item I try to use, I get the "one look at the jam jar..." message (what jam jar? I tried to use the lantern... then the scuba gear... etc.). Then once my inventory shows the love bug in the jam jar, I click on it, and get the same "one look at the jam jar"... message, after which it shows it both in my inventory AND sitting on the rock...
I'm playing v. 1.0, by the way.
And another bug... or maybe it was intended that way...
Are the points where Dizzy gets reborn after dying meant to be the exact points where he died in the first place? For example, if you're low on energy in your first life, and the first rat in the mine caves it gets you, you're done for... same with the bear - it keeps swiping till the game's over).
I've been away for a few days.
I've sent a new v1.03 for upload. still no map changes, so previous saves are ok!
the sword hang was a bug, if you jumped a certain way. that is fixed, along with most of the others that have been found. Sorry!

I do seem to have found a few recently, sorry! (mind you, the 'flying along on the mine cart' one did make life nice and easy!)
I seem to have been quite unlucky stumbling across any bug going, but as you say, for me, mmmm tasty!
Update v1.04
There is now a new option in the menu to choose the type of lifebar displayed
type 1 - current animated lifebar with animated heart
(requires modern pc to be able to use)

After having finished the game on v. 1.03, I downloaded the newest one. Short bug overview:
- lifebar 1 doesn't work, unfortunately (it would be the best): I see just a white stripe instead. Lifebar 2 works.
- I still can't go back to the pier when leaving the ship and now I guess I must have been having this problem since I downloaded v. 1.03. I press enter at the wooden sign and I'm back next to the small locked hut, but I fall through the pier. It's a pity because it seems impossible not to lose some energy underwater, in contact with the crabs. Doesn't anyone else have this problem?

I've come across that too, which is strange because the bug wasn't there when I tested it or played v1.0 :confused:
I introduced a bug, when i tried to fix another problem!
that has now been fixed.
I've reworked some cave exits to stop dizzy moving when the screen fades.
fixed a movement bug at the church tomb
reduced the frame count of the lifebar tile by half
found api was set to 1 in dizzy.inf. This normally is set to 0. When reset, it fixed the lifebar animation on my laptop. (some computers will need it set to 1. if so, choose lifebar 2 or 3 in game options)
I was unable to find a problem with the minecart. was this after game saving/loading?. reaching a particular bend or set of points?
v1.05 will be released shortly

In my case I had saved a game shortly before a bend, then I tried to turn and found myself out of tracks...

I never saved while on the tracks - always before I jumped onto the cart, but I got the problem a few times, but I have no idea how I managed to do it, sorry

Have I found a new bug?
Version 1.05.
I opened the tomb door and when I try to go back to the church island, I'm standing in front of the tomb, but I'm unable to move. It's a pity - I may have to take a longer way to get there, and I will have to go there again.

I have the same problem. Opened the lock and investiaged, but then went back for a second look, it freezes.
i'll look at fixing that in the next few days

Came across this site while reminiscing about my younger days... absolutely love it!
I love Pirate's Life even more! It's such a cool game so far, an eggcelent inheritor to the legacy of the originals (see what I did there?), and I can honestly say I am incredibly impressed, which makes this all the more painful...
I has found a bug:v2_dizzy_down:
I'm playing the latest version (1.05, only had it a couple of days), and I'm trying to leave the glowing crystal caves to get back to the church. I've already opened the gate and spoken to the priest, and I'm coming back with the candle. This makes it the second time I'll be exiting the caves here.
The screen loads up when I exit the caves, but then I lose all control of Dizzy - can't walk left, right, or jump, or open my inventory. The spider is still moving up and down, if that means anything. The only thing I can do is reload a previous saved game. This has happened three times now, even if I close the game down and restart.
If you need any eggstra info to help pinpoint anything let me know.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to sort out this boat riding thing I've seen mentioned and hopefully get back that way later.
EDIT - D'uh, just realised the last post was this eggxact same thing. I thnk I've been playing too long tonight...

I've forgotten to write about a graphic bug I've found. If I remember well, it appeared in v. 1.05 - at least I haven't noticed it in the earliest version I played. Now it can still be seen in the newest version. Problem: when I ride the mine cart over the lava lakes, the hottest parts are just plain yellow rectangles. As I said - it's a pure graphic bug, no problems with playing, but it just looks bad. :(
