I payed a visit to the DizzyAGE site this morning and found that the game created by Jamie Douglas is ready to download :)

- Yolkfolk.com (http://www.yolkfolk.com/site/games.php?game_id=72) (v2.06)

- DizzyAGE (http://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/dz009.html) (v2.06)

- HELP THREAD (http://www.yolkfolk.com/bb/showthread.php?t=601)

I've had a go at it too and I must say it is eggcellent :) Well done Jamie ;)

One question though, are the cherries meant to be health or are you supposed to pick them up for something?

I think It's the same as Spellbound, you can stay underwater for a few seconds then your energy drains :v2_dizzy_confused2:

yeah he has used the default dizzyage water material, meaning dizzy can stay under water in this one for a while then his energy will run down. like spellbound.

Don't DO that!

Saying there was a bug nearly gave me a heart attack before i looked at the pic! Yes you can stay underwater for a while before the life starts to drain.

and thank you Adz and Peter for the kind words!

i would appreciate feedback, both good and bad, so that i have a better idea of what works well and doesn't for the next game i do. although it's just a few little random specks of ideas in my mind at the moment...

Being new I don't know whether out-and-out spoilers are allowed here? Let's just say for now that the Cherries are meant to be eaten by a hungry character, but it's not Dizzy.

I've also reached a point where I've explored as far as I can go and don't know what to do with any of the objects I've found... :v2_dizzy_smile:

what objects have you got, and how far have you got?

Mapping as I go along, I've found 78 of the rooms. How big is it?

Apart from the bits and pieces with diamonds hidden underneath them, which I'm assuming don't have any other purpose within the game; the objects that have stumped me are: the Matches, the Kindling (I assume they are used together somewhere), the Dough, The Harp, the Bridge Kit, the Rusty Magnet, the Feather.

The thing that's stumped me the most is the Pickaxe - all I've managed to do with it is break one of the rocks in the mine, but that has seemingly no after-effect whatsoever.

Also, there's a diamond partially visible in the Treetops, but when positioned over it I can't actually pick it up... :v2_dizzy_confused3:

delta
12-03-07, 10:16 PM
all i will say is that there is a reason why the pickaxe is not removed from the inventory after you've used it... :p

right, i was going to upload a map of Diamond Mine Dizzy, but it's rather large...

by 'large' i mean the JPG image is nearly a full mb, and the bitmap is a whopping 13mb...

with the size being 3362x1362, it's also way beyond photobucket's capacity.

wooo! i just worked out how to 'zip' files, so i'm attaching it as a zip file for those who would like to see it!

oh it doesn't show you the intro screens tho, you'll have to find them for yourselves! :p

You can convert it to .PNG and it will be about the same size as the zip (326KB)

BMP files are not compressed (usually)
TGA is also uncompressed (usually) and very simple format.
PNG is using a zip like compression method, so it's very good for images with few
colors or big areas with constant color (like black background).
JPGs are very good for images with lots of colors (like photos), but they loose
quality when compressing (loose detail forever, so never back up your work in jpg).

If you want, I can make the map available near the game download on the DizzyAGE website, though it will be a big spoiler :)

okies folks, Alex has uploaded the walkthrough i've sent him, so if you're really stuck somewhere in the game then you can get the answer on the game's page.

if you're STILL stuck with the diamonds, e-mail me (addy on my profile - it's the same as my msn addy) and i'll reply to you in a few weeks when i get my internet back up after moving house! :p

Have to say im impressed at the fact there are people who can create these Dizzy Fan Games using Dizzy Age & well done

Always a joy to play a new adventure (despite getting stuck many a time but using some of the hints on here) & coming back to the game several times
ive finally completed all the puzzles. Got a diamond of Daisy :girl:

Im up to 47 diamonds but 3 are illusive :v2_dizzy_confused3:

i've sent Alex a slightly revised version of Diamond Mine Dizzy for him to upload.

nothing really noticable, just a couple of bugs that i found when beta testing Dreamworld Dizzy. i'd taken the code for the items direct from Diamond Mine, so realised that the bug would be in this game too, and lo, it was. doh!

i'm sure he'll post when it's been updated.

This game is truly excellent, well worthy of the Dizzy name. I had never played any fan games until now but I'm sincerely impressed. Even though I have the emulated versions, I still got PTeals remakes of the originals so far just 'cause they run on their own with no fuss.

This game is pretty big too isn't it... Bigeer than I thought, there's plenty of time gone into it alright. Thumbs up from Mataeus

Right, Diamond Mine Dizzy v2 should be ready for release tomorrow evening, or tonight, if i feel there are no bugs in it. :p

it basically upgrades the game to v2.2 of DizzyAGE, however i've taken the opportunity to do a lot more to it. the danger with this was that i didn't want to 'lose' the original version of the game, so i've kept it as an option from the menu. You can therefore choose to play either the 'classic' version, or the 'v2' version.

<b>Differences to the original:</b>

Classic:
-slight changes to the amount of health lost when colliding with a danger
-dizzy moves while eating

v2:
-new HUD
-new loading screen
-graphics updated and more detail added
-some rooms and sections completely re-drawn
-sound FX changed
-more music added
-life bar FX changed
-a couple of puzzles changed
-a couple of brand new puzzles added
-'death' messages added
-a couple of scripts changed
-new style of movement underwater
-slight changes to the amount of health lost when colliding with a danger
-dizzy moves while eating
-eating doesn't restore you to full health, just partial.

and probably some other stuff i'm forgetting.

The best way to see the difference will be to open two windows, one playing v2 mode and the other playing 'classic' mode, and see the differences between them.

for the moment, here are some comparison screenshots. v2 mode at the top, Classic mode at the bottom:

Diamond Mine 'Redux' - can't wait! Maybe this time I'll finally discover the hidden intro screens!

Definitely looks from the screenshots that a significant element is going to be increased dexterity required. What's the difference in the last two screenshots though, apart from the colour of the wooden posts :dizzy_confused:

no real difference apart from the colours. most of the screens are just colour changes or small graphical tweaks that you may not notice unless you're running both side by side.

the only bits i've <i>really</i> changed are bits of the original that i was never really happy with, like the cave.

yes there is something you can do, download v2.01 when i get someone to put it on Yolkfolk.com! basically i forgot to put something in the code, and it makes the game crash at that point in v2 mode. you could always play it in classic mode for the time being!

There seems to be an issue with the 'v2' mode in version 2. people are emailing me to say that they can't fill the bucket in the shallow part of the sea (as it says in the walkthrough). This is because when i did the 'v2' mode, i removed the shallow part of the sea to enlarge the quicksand area.

Therefore the area you need to drop the bucket in has been moved to the moat. If you drop the bucket there in 'v2' mode, it will fill it.

Classic mode remains true to the walkthrough.

Alex, if you read this, it may be an idea to put a note on the walkthrough that it is for 'classic' mode and older versions only.
