View Full Version : Egyptian Tomb Dizzy v1.32 [DOWNLOADABLE]
Just minutes before the deadline for the easter comp, ETD has been released! :)
The testing of it has been a bit rushed, but I think most of the bugs have been found. It is entirely possible however that other bugs will be found in due course....
I will warn you: This is probably the most difficult DizzyAGE game you'll ever have played. Not in terms of the puzzles, but more in terms of the level of dexterity required for some sections. I was testing it tonight and one section had my heart racing, and me breathing a huge sigh of relief when I'd passed it!
You will however, be pleased to know that there are save game 'points'. So rather than allow you to just save the game anywhere, or not save it at all, in ETD there are certain places that you can save your progress.
In a break with tradition, I haven't hidden any of the treasure (I figured the game was hard enough without doing that!), and despite me not really liking the concept of extra lives, the game is so hard that i've included 4 extra lives hidden in the game.
So yes it is difficult. I make no apologies for that. Just think of it as a challenge... ;)

<b>Story:</b>
Dizzy and Grand Dizzy have got the treasure-hunting bug again, and have gone off on their own to explore an Egyptian Tomb.
Take control of either Dizzy or Grand Dizzy and experience two different adventures in the same game. Take different routes through the tomb as you bid to find the hidden treasure, and avoid the curse of the pharaohs!

Additionally, I accidentally linked to the wrong game on Dizzy Stories. That has now been fixed...

Congratulations Jamie on releasing the game !!
Ive just been having a go this morning, I think a lot of people are going to find it very difficult. One thing about any game I don't like is when you have to replay the same bit over and over again, some will get frustrated with this even though it's there for a reason and to keep the game challenging, I think the travel platform is very inventive however, very clever stuff, having to hit the right coloured circles to get round the perils. This takes some practice but you keep having to redo all the bit before and replay :v2_dizzy_frown:
Anyway good news is ive reached the 1st save point & negotiated it, yee hee :)
Don't know if these are bugs or meant to happen:-
If you get hit by the moving block after the 1st save point you up end losing all lives, you don't respawn to safe position to have another go.
The bridge with the 3 coloured buttons, I got trapped on it in the middle and couldn't escape either side, means end of game.
If you get hit by the moving block after the 1st save point you up end losing all lives, you don't respawn to safe position to have another go.yeah that's not ideal. I'll release an update sometime that'll respawn you at the room entrance should you die from one of those.

hee hee, it's great having traps, I didn't think would be really as it's clever how it works (with the coding).
v1.01 released. fixes bugs with respawning after crush-block death, plus a small misunderstanding with the coding for the time-specific dialog. :v2_dizzy_blush:
v1.01 is up on Yolkfolk. :)
another couple of bugs found :( This time in the map, so unfortunately old saved games won't work. You can't really get past that point either, so it's a bit of an essential download...
if anyone is wondering, invisible blocks in room 10_8 kill you. I'll probably email v1.10 tonight.
v1.10 has been sent to alex and adz. As well as bug fixes, I've also increased the items in the inventory to 4, and have increased the delay in the crushing blocks moving.
Unfortunately previous saved games won't work. :( sorry!

Well I wasn't sure on this as I kept dying everytime initially but you can get past every time, just need to stand on the very right tip of the 2nd block and jump, you won't die and can continue.

That be much better for those who havn't started, as im well into the game I will continue. I got past the 'invisable' bug & I don't think from memory you need to go through again, not sure.
v1.10 is up on Yolkfolk :)
:v2_dizzy_cry: v1.2 has been released and is up on Dizzy Stories.
Basically it fixes a map issue that means you can't get out of a room, and therefore can't finish the game.
Unfortunately it also means that previous saved games won't work. again. Sorry! :(
Whats the manna for? it says I've found some but then it just vanishes and nothing happened.
health replenishment, should you need it. If you grab it when you don't, then ah well, you wasted it :p
Incidentally, there are 4 'extra lives' hidden in the game.... ;)
Right OK wouldn't have known that, Perhaps that should have been noted in the manual or something.. lol
Ah well, now you know! :p

Bug...
http://s11.radikal.ru/i183/1005/a3/1d280557a28d.png
well don't jump there then! :p
seriously. by the very nature of that puzzle, I can't mitigate against every chance of you getting stuck there. If you did escape from there, you'll probably have found that you couldn't get back to the switches, due to the height of the platform next to it. It's just something that you have to take into account with that puzzle, rather than blindly jumping around willy-nilly, expecting to be ok.

v1.20 is up on DizzyAGE too
v1.3 is now up on Dizzy Stories, fixing a bug when playing as grand dizzy. Saved games will not work unfortunately, as it's a change to the map. You only need v1.3 for playing as Grand Dizzy. Playing as Dizzy with v1.2 should work fine.
Sorrieee!
v1.30 is up on Yolkfolk :) I know it still says v1.20 on the site, another bug's cropped up on the site.
v1.31 is up on Dizzy Stories. Sorry, but it's a map change. I'm sure you know the drill by now - previous saved games won't work :(
Yipee, another update! :v2_dizzy_yahoo: and It's up on Yolkfolk. :p
v1.32 is now up on Dizzy Stories.
this version fixes a couple of bugs playing as Grand Dizzy, and again they're map changes, so previous saved games won't work.

I think I'm playing version 1.3, but I've found a bug and thought I'd report it in case the latest version hasn't fixed it... Playing as Grand Dizzy, in room 10-14, when you jump up (going from left to right) there is a message about being killed by a falling block.
I'll download the latest version and start again, but wanted to check that this has been fixed before starting from scratch!

pretty sure that was fixed in one of the two versions since 1.3 - I think i checked everywhere that could happen and fixed them.
EDIT:: ahh yes i just checked. you'll find that the room is a very slightly different layout in order to fix the bug. :)
Incidentally, has anyone found the 4 extra lives yet? :p One is easy, but the other three are very well hidden :)

Haven't found a single one! Not that I've really been hunting for them - there's enough going on in this game!!
Didn't find any either,
i don't recall seeing anything to look behind or click on.
some walls are not as they seem ;)
you also forget a door deep in the bowels...

OH MY GOD i still can't get to the first bloody save - how crap is that - i know if i could get there i'll love the game but getting there!!! :v2_dizzy_cry:
wow! errr i mean really?
:p
is it the moving platform through the spikes that you're having problems with? If so it's simply a matter of learning where to stand at what point, and which buttons to press :)

Aw Quiggie! I assume it's the moving platform that's killing you... if you want, I can send you details of how to do it... PM me if you want.

Actually I think it's you (Pogie) me & Quiggy, but I probably 'win' as I've never managed to get past the first moving platform. Likewise, I've never even completed the first galleon of Jamie's pirate game, mainly cos I kept getting killed by dropping 3 pixels. So, I gave up on both games.
Don't know about anybody else, but I would love a 'wimp' mode in Jamie's action games that just put you back to the start of the room you died in so that you could keep on trying a particular nasty puzzle. Of course, if you finished the game I would expect nothing more than a sarcastic message about being a wimp ...but it would give me the incentive to then try and complete the game properly.
Did it work? Did it heck as like. That dastardly Delta's already thought of that and written some code in to prevent it.
actually that isn't the best of ways to code that, as it can be got around. I toughened it up for PSD, but even that can be got around. MFD though has a way of preventing the use of dev mode that is totally failsafe (without actually editing the code itself). :p
Oh and Grandad, Pirate Ship Dizzy has a cheat in it which gives you infinite lives. You can find that in the help thread.
