GROGG ISLAND DIZZY

It's Finally finished. This game was started in August '09 and was finished about half an hour ago on the 25th of March 2010.

Thanks to Jamie Douglas for answering all my incessant questions without calling me names
(at least to my face!). This game wouldn't be nearly as good without his assistance.

Thanks to my testers James Kay (DizzyFanUK), Steve Rennie (Grandad) and gibbyboy. All the hours spent trawling through this game finding loads of stuff I missed (LOADS!) and offering me advice on how to make it better is hugely appreciated! A figurative pint of grog each for the three of you. Cheers!

Version 1.1 fixes some places where you should get killed. Saves from previous version won't work, sorry! The kill places are "the hungry plant" and "slippy log"

oh i've got further now. The thing with this game is that you can do things that you maybe wouldn't think of in other games. Also, the trees near the pirate are like that for a reason...

Urgh! Been trying to get on the internet for hours. It's been a right pain in the hoop.

I'll check that duplicate tile when I'm less filled with rage.

I'll create a help thread now then. If I don't, it means I've torn apart my computer with my bare hands and feasted on its innards :)

...and breathe

I found a minor bug in the game - after using the rope, if you keep jumping up you can go into the ground above. By jumping on rocks, you can jump out to the right of that screen, which takes you into black screens, which you fall through and then come out in the jungle. It doesn't cause a problem - just I assume it shouldn't happen!

Hardly worth an update, I wouldn't have thought... You don't die or get stuck as a result... just see some black screens.

Don't worry m8, we're not that snappy :p If you have an updated version ready, just give me and Alex a buzz. :say_yes:

Press please in game key F11. What at you there numbers? At me:

vsync = 1 --->> ~30/35
vsync = 0 --->> always 37/64

delta

mine varies: 35-37/60

my LCD doesn't mind it really. Although I do have my monitor connected with a DVI lead cause the normal monitor lead didn't work too well with my graphics card.

It is very slightly flickery, but not really so that you'd notice.

vsync = 0 ?

delta
13-07-10, 09:52 AM
no, vsync=1.

with vsync=0, it's generally 37/512

can't see too much difference really, although it does seem smoother with vsync=1.

Тhanks delta. It something at me with the computer. :dizzy_frown:

I wonder if changing the lead people use to connect their monitor would have an effect? As I say, I use a DVI lead rather than a normal monitor lead, as my monitor flickered too much with my new graphics card when using the normal monitor lead.

delta, and you can write down game on video and show through YouTube? dr.Titus very much asks.

delta
13-07-10, 10:10 AM
err i'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking me to make a video of the game scrolling in one of the vsync modes?

not sure what the quality will be like....

<object width="700" height="550"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nebDUD93qqM&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nebDUD93qqM&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="700" height="550"></embed></object>

It's video via videocamera? Or grabbed from desktop?

delta

No... It's no good )))
To estimate quality it is possible only through a videocamera)

delta

ahh ok. I don't have a video camera.

but that is a good approximation of the quality.

Desktop video can't transfer LCD monitor specific color flickering...
