The Story.

One Friday the yolkfolk had the afternoon off.. from doing whatever it is they normally do.
So Denzil set off to the pond, Dylan went looking for the correct soil to grow his ungrowable plant, Dozy took a much needed nap from a hard mornings sleep, Dora started brewing up a stew and Grand dizzy wanted to read the next chapter of his book, Danny was off exploring while Dizzy and Daisy were helping Theodore with a progect.

Dizzy picked up a heart shape object from the table, it was still beating. Theodore explained Dizzy had to return it too the heart of the land... it was the life of the land, He had found it in his back garden and was unsure how it got there. .. suddenly Danny burst though the doors.. a surprised Dizzy dropped the heart that shattered in pieces. Danny then ran out into the wood upset.. he only wanted to tell dizzy about his secret hiding place he had just found.

Theodore insisted Dizzy go find all the bits of the heart and once he did he should return it too the heart of the land, Meanwhile Daisy went to find Danny.

But thats not all.. The yolkfolk noticed a hooded stranger with a distinctive red right hand looking all sinister lurking in the shadows, he picked up one of the heart pieces and made his way into the caves.. . the same caves Daisy had just entered.. and most likely the same cave Danny had ran into.. perhaps his newly found hiding place.

Look Luck Dizzy, your going to need it.



In short, collect hearts, beat the bad guy and save the girl.

Takes place in the same world Emerald city and Mysterious realm is in.. this is also kinda a follow on to MR

It appears a little blurry when loaded into the game for some reason.. so i might have see if i can edit it. I HATE doing the hud i can't do it properly and it's always become blurry.. im now using a version of Paintshop pro and it's a horrible program and the results are no better then MS paint.

It's basically the same as Mysterious Realm with a few colour changes.. it's the best i can do with a hud.

Not starting the game till after Christmas/mid January, Dizzy has too collect hearts and travel to the heart of the land :D
Full story will come in a couple of months. It should be bigger then MR, i have the story and puzzles and landscape for it but it's a case of keeping it interesting so once i start building it will see how to develops.

Im intrigued - Is the heart-land game gonna be a valentines day special?

btw, I read in another thread, that someone is thinking of experimenting with doing away with a HUD completely - i wonder if this would interest you?

I tend to find that too, keep having to resize things to avoid becoming blurry as when you save to .tga file it happens. Get the sizing about right then if lucky may be ok. Looks ok on screen here though.

I keep playing about with mine and decided to change it again. Gonna do a little update.

I always try to draw things at 100%, so there is as little re-sizing as possible.

I just try and use the tiles from the game.. Zak's for example is too big he had to resized

Perhaps Delta will if you really desire such trash.
I don't do bad music and don't really like sell outs,
So you wont find either here.

Im not sure what all this has to do with my game, however.
It all seems very judgmental towards my personal opinions regarding a different topic.. :tdown:

Still making clothing, nearly finished.
New video wont be watchable until mid summer maybe later.
Mr Onions might make an appearance.. depends how many character's i have, But you've giving me a slight idea. :dizzy_cool:

I like the graveyard with the background layer effect.
Definitely you need a moon there! Graveyards without big moons - not really graveyards :) And perhaps a crow?

Bulk of the map has been drawn, Just a 2 main playing aries to draw.
Perhaps a 3rd.. I've left that it in case i needed to add some bits and bobs later on.

Also going to add a different sort of game featuer which many or may not make the final cut.. im going too see what testers think when i get to that stage. :D

No coding done yet, no items, or characters added yet.. long way to go.

I'll let you know when i begin coding.. maybe next week.

New work contracts have been found so game progress will slow down for a bit, but shouldn't a problem.

Im having a lot of fun with this so far... but feels like somethings missing... have to see when it all finished, it might be because i have build one section of the map yet.


Oh and there was a possibly to 2 possible endings.. but im thinking about scrapping that idea.. maybe see what the 'testers' think when the time comes.

Seems to be a slight problem.
I have more puzzles and items then i do ways to get them.. lol
Mainly because i want the payer to open most of the game up to give you more choose. Plus each section of the game isn't huge, i didn't want massive castles or a massive this or that.

Which means i can either.
Add more characters, some how make them interesting and part of the story.
Hide a few items.
make the map/game a little bigger.
or allow dizzy too enter some huts and things.



It seems i combination of all 4 might be in order.. there really isn't a great deal of characters so a couple more wont hurt, bu i run the risk of making parts of the game pointless and unfortunately theres nothing i can really cut.


Something to think about.

Or you can have a small contest where Dizzy can win some of the items :)
You can either go for some arcade contest or some smarter way to win.
Anyway it has to be winnable by all players.

Tiny update, I've coded one puzzle in two weeks, however the pause was so beneficial I've come up with some new ideas which really ties a few things together. Start doing research for certain puzzles and before you know it it gets bigger and bigger!!! Hopefully i's all worth it.. and you know this isn't going to be all that difficult if you know your stuff ;) But it's just great fun making it.


Anyway, Onwards.

yep, i needed to improve on the upsidedown stuff i did in MRD which was very basic and only a few rooms.. not that his is a huge part of the game but it feels more part of it then tagged on which is how the other one felt, to me anyway..

Thats it for a few weeks as i have more work come my way.
Got a couple of small puzzles to finish coding.
Something else ;)
Baddies.
Intros/outros, final and so on.
Coins and other things.

Ok it's on the first page... the rewright was much much better than my orignal 'version' of events.. lol i cut out a bit and changed who caused the disaster and it works much much better... The other version was starting to turn into a very poorly written short story... lol

:dizzy_biggrin: Things are going a treat.. i now finished all the difficult bits of coding and map building.. gotta do a bit of polishing up and some small building and a few basic puzzles to code now.

And then i can add all the baddies.
Collectibles
start and end bits.
attract menu
Testy testy

There just one thing i really wanted to include but i can't get it to work so i might have to miss it out.. it should be really simple but i got pissed off with it and gave up.. perhaps I'll have another attempts at the end.

:dizzy_mad: founds a crappy bug already.. messing up 3 puzzles.. thanks to the same dam ID numbers.. lol easily fixed one will have to be re-built.. i'll do that tomorrow.

By the end of the week i should be ready to add baddies.. so it might be ready for testing on about 2 weeks... (3 if things go wrong) so if anyones wants to test it let me know (im asking in advance to give you time to think about it only wants a couple of people im looking forward too feedback. :dizzy_cool:

Almost finished, just added in all the collectible, finished the puzzles and added music because i like different music for each section.. helps create the mood.

To do list is not
Add the baddies (spiders and so on)
Might add some food
the final game sequence.. not sure if I'll have an opening one as it's not necessary.

Then off for testing

Should have it all done by the weekend.. i've kinda had enough of this now and i can't make it any better.. it ain't half bad however i hope.

however you'll probably find that it's not done, as when you play through it you'll find loads of little bugs, niggles, and things that you're not quite happy with.

It's worth noting that Dizzy will be able to carry 4 items then the standard 3.
Unless anything feels Strong's about keeping it 3, or perhaps a 'bag' will be added. But i think the games needs 4 slots.

And Hearts you find will also increase the health but not the hidden ones.

Im going to releases early April. which is in about two weeks.
I don't have much to do now but it will take that long just to finished off as im going to be back at work next week.

Going to play it and make sure it works and I've got to let it go, I've had enough of it..lol

Anyway im always moaned about having poor story's or ones that don't make sense and this isn't any different.. however i have changed the story.

Few things to talk about.
After playing the more recent games this is an Anti-modern high graphic dizzy game.. lol as we call it.. fits my environment and puzzles perfectly, so don't be too disappointed.

A new game has a title and a concept.. but more on that at a later date.

Remember.
Dizzy can hold 4 items.
All items are usable.

And the new simple story is.
Daisy is off checking out Danny's new den in the caves so Dizzy decided to surprise her before she gets back by collecting all the heart fragments, the more hearts the more complete it gets. But there are many creatures and strangers above and below ground, plus you don't want Daisy to find out and you'll have to hurry before she gets back.. Nothing is too dangerous for our Dizzy not even the hooded stranger and his red right hand, or those annoying flying things. But Dizzy main weakness is he always gets too distracted, hopefully you can hurry him along.

There! simple.
