Hi,

I just started reminiscing on the whole Dizzy thing and wondered if there was any sort of a community!! WOW, obviously that's an understatement, there's a bigger community here than in my town!!lol

Anyway, thing is I want to play the games (I used to play them, (I think I had them all), on the Amstrad CPC464) now on PC or preferably DS. What's the best way to do so now, can someone direct me to site(s) to download ROMs please? Would be even better to play through an R4 on the DS, does anyone do this or know how to? I'm sure there are Amstrad/Spectrum emulators, but would be cool to get some advice from someone who's already done it than to go blindly into it. BTW, I'm VERY undeveloped when it comes to emulators etc. Some would say a tech virgin!!lol

Thanks in advance people.....

Unfortunately for legal reasons we cannot recommend any emulators, however we CAN very highly recommend the Re-makes of the original Dizzy games using DizzyAGE, which you can find here: http://www.yolkfolk.com/dizzyage/ just click on the 'games' link to go to a page with loads and loads of fan-made games, including remakes of every spectrum dizzy game apart from Spellbound. Unfortunately they're not the Amstrad versions, nor can you play them on anything other than a PC.

Thanks, I thought it might be on a legal tightrope there. I'll have a look at the remakes. Great work by the way.

From what I know, It's not really emulators that are illegal It's more the game ROM's.

But yeah, as Jamie said, take a look at the DizzyAGE remakes :)

Yeah that's what I thought re emulators. I have also read somewhere that it's not illegal to have roms from computers currently not being developed for, so Spectrum etc from that era are fine (according to this rule!).
Either way, the remakes are just as good, (and the Nightmare Dizzy is genius:v2_dizzy_clapping:)so nothing wrong there. If I get a windows emulator for my DS I should be able to play them on the move!

Cheers for the replies lads.

i believe it is still illegal to have ROMs of old games for obsolete systems, as the copyright is still in force.

Could be, to be honest I don't know, seems to be somewhat a legal minefield. This is where I saw what I spoke about earlier:
